Raster ric error message

Hello,

I try to create ric file from some tiff. Every tif has a world file exported
from raster design.
I can put few rasters in ric but if I try others I get the message :
"The color space of image : ... path xxx.tif does not match that of the
first file referenced by the raster image catalog."

I have tried to insert directly in author the problematic tiff and it works.

Can I find comments about this error. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Albert Kalman

Hi,

Make sure that all your TIFF images in your RIC have identical colour depth
and properties.
Also make sure you are using the same TIFF compression scheme and that it is
supported by Mapguide,
see details in Raster Workshop manual.
You cannot blend 2bit, 8bit or 24bit images in the same RIC file.
You can use a image viewer like ACDSee to quickly see the properties of all
your files.
Free demo at: http://www.acdsystems.com/English/Products/ACDSee/index.htm

Best regards,
Jocke

Albert,
As stated in the Help, all images in a RIC must be of the same colour depth.

Thank you for answers,

Of cours, my intention is to put only same color depth in ric and these are
grayscale or color 256.

What is very strange is that after conversion all the images were converted
from color 256 to grayscale in Raster Design. Maybe I have made somewhere a
mistake, Joakim suggest was very good because now I see, after conversion
from 256 color in grayscale using "histogram>convert to grayscale" with
ACDsee I got "color: 256" and for another "color: 256 grayscale"!! The
"color: 256" is grayscale because I could not make a new grayscale
conversion!

I think, but I'm not sure now, I found the problem. I think is important
when the burn!! option in export is cheked for Raster Design and this is not
for MG discussion groups 🙂 .
I'll post the step by step how I got this strange thing.

Thanks!

I found the little bug !?

I have a 256 color scaned map. It is georeferenced with rotation.
1. I made a crop and save it with export without burn in rotation.
2. I converted tot grayscale via histograms and I exported it without burn
in rotation.
3. I checked the file with ACDSee and I got properties colo:256 grayscale.
OK.

4. I exported again the grayscale image but now with "burn in rotation"
checked.
5. I checked file with ACDSee and I got properties color: 256 !!! ?

Now, I try to put them in the same ric, I got below error message.
"The color space of image : ... path xxx.tif does not match that of the
first file referenced by the raster image catalog."

Does "burn in rotation" alter the color space?
As I see first, I must make burn in rotation for color, then reinsert and
export it as grayscale.

This is a questions for Raster Design but I think MG user maybe met this
error.

Thanks!
