MapGuide Studio unable to view layers

Just installed the free version of MapGuide Studio Preview, and attempting to get thru the tutorial to learn how to use the product. I am logging in remotely to a web server to access the sample layers and maps. When I try to view layers or maps, I am not able to display the geometry. The Layer Editor panel is populated with information, such as the data elements and the styles, but the preview panel shows nothing at all. Zooming in/out, refreshing, clicking on initial map view all have no effect. My coworker, who is on working on-site, is able to view the layers and maps, although the response is rather slow.

This is the forum for commercial MapGuide 6.5 and below. The only support
mechanism for MapGuide Open Source is through the users email list at
osgeo.org. See this page:
https://mapguide.osgeo.org/servlets/ProjectMailingListList to sign yourself
up. You can also search the archives where a lot questions like this have
been asked in the past.
