Mapguide 6.5 data conversion tool question

We have mapguide 6.3 running and need to convert about 1000 sdf files for use on another server running Mapguide Enterprise 2008. Does the free conversion tool work with mapguide 6.3 sdf files? Does the conversion tool work with studio 2008 and Mapguide Enterprise 2008? How do we get the old files converted so MGE 2008 can use them?

The free Data Migration Tool from Autodesk was built with MapGuide
Enterprise 2007, and you can only convert the MapGuide (6.3 or 6.5) data
(e.g. SDF) using the Tool to a MGE 2007 server repository, not MGE 2008. A
workaround is to do so with MGE 2007, and then build a MGE 2007 package and
reload it in MGE 2008.
