JRE or JDK for Liteview with Tomcat

Does anybody know if it is enough to install JRE instead of JDK to run liteview application? The Autodesk Manual recommends JDK but we would like to install JRE for some reason. Does anybody know why the JDK should be installed? Is there any advantage to install JDK instead of JRE?

You will need to use the JDK in order for Tomcat to compile the JSPs.

If you use merely the JRE, Tomcat will not be able to compile JSPs. Consequently, end users will not be able to access JSP resources.
