join to db leaves Blank Screen

Not quite sure what happens to my joins:
Steps:
Connect to ODBC is successful
Join table to SDF feature source using Extension then create a join name with fields matching ( ex: APN primary APN secondary)
I go back to layers change schema to new Extension name,
See the fields with Join Keys in the Properties displayed in Viewer.. Yet.. when I Refresh the screen the display goes blank.

Any Idea why? \

PS.. looking for data on Invoking Scripts in WebLayout. any place I should be looking for examples??
