config.xml file - MGE2010

Hello All,

Would anyone have a valid config.xml file they would be willing to share?

I'm having fits with several hundred mrSid images and there doesn't seem to
be any easy way to generate the config.xml file for imagery located via
External Files.

Thanks in advance

Tom

Try this sequence.

In Studio create your connection to the external folder and hit test connection. It may time out. When it does hit save again. The server is probably creating the config, but Studio is timing out before it's done.

Ideally a large indexed MrSid would probably be better than many smaller ones.

Is there a proctical/hard upper limit on sid mosaic size?

To be honest I'm not sure if there is a practical upper limit. I know with ECW the mosaic approach (thanks I couldn't remember the proper term) works better than many individual files, particularly for large files ie several Gb in size.

Did the workaround on the save work?

I created 3 mosaics with about 600 of the individual files and dropped them
into the unmanaged folder and connected via a new data connection as a test
and created the new data connection via folder rather than file. The Test
Connection was successful but no config.xml was created.

When I attempted to refresh the preview I immediately get a object required
error that appears to be coming from the
mg2010/schemareport/displayschema.php in the function ShowFirstClass() at
least that's what MS script editor brings up.

On thing I did see weird was a mixing of forward and back slashes in the
file. If I click on the View Data link in the preview, I get the weird file
structure. See attached jpg.

Thoughts?

Are you running Update 1?

I don't think the slashes pose a problem. I see that in my working stuff and apparently the system can parse them and not worry about them.

Try a connection to a single file rather than the folder of all 3. Don't worry about the preview on the feature source, worry about building a layer and adding it to a new map. In the Connection ensure a coordinate system is found or add an override. That is required.

I still find it odd that it hasn't created a config.xml yet. Before with the many files the system had to open each one to determine the bounds information and then write out the config. This was time consuming. With the new files you have this shouldn't take that long, but if you can watch the server process don't save until it is no longer busy.

Create the new connnection to a single file, check the coordinate systems and add an override, test the connection and watch the server process. When it stops processing hit save. Don't worry about the preview. Build a new layer, save it and add that to a new map. If things worked the coordinate system should be set and the bounds of the map should be set correctly. This means a config.xml was successful.

Thanks Dave - I was trying to look at too minute a level. Building all the
way out to a map without trying to do previews worked.
