Drawing Limits in AutoCAD 2015

Any drawing in AutoCAD will have the drawing limits (Paper size). AutoCAD provides quick and easy way of creating drawing limits. The same is discussed in this post. Format>Drawing Limits> or in Command Prompt>Key in Drawing limits >then Enter using keyboard.

Drawing Limits in AutoCAD 2015 helps in setting the sheet size of the Drawing Area. Once the required drawing limits are set by the end user always make sure that Zoom >all command is used to set the Drawing Limits in ACAD 2015 and then save the file.
Now in this post let us discuss about accessing the  Drawing Limits in ACAD 2015

Format >Drawing Limits

Specify co-ordinates ( X-axis and Y-axis) of  the extreme lower left corner of the Drawing sheet by default it will be in zero. Keep this as 0-0 only.

Now Specify co-ordinates ( X-axis and Y-axis) of  the extreme upper right corner of the Drawing sheet by default it will be in 420,297 (A3-Size). Set this Drawing Limits to the required size according to the need.

Key in LIMITS command from the command prompt using the Keyboard.

Carry out the same procedure which is discussed in the above option of issuing command.

ON/OFF – Function of these particular options in the Drawing Limits in ACAD2015 or anywhere else is to enable the co-ordinate values of the points to be picked up or not to be picked up during our selection of the points in the ACAD window. When the point selected falls outside the limits area it reports us saying the point selected is outside limits, when the Drawing Limits is ON. But when the Drawing Limits in ACAD is OFF, we can select the point even outside the Drawing Limits co-ordinate values.
