Simple Measurement (without selecting an icon)

Simple Measurement (without selecting an icon)

A feature that is in Geomagic Design that I really like is the ability to make simple measurements by just selecting edges and sufarces.  there is a small context window that gives information when an edge, surface, point, etc. is selected.

Edge: Lenght or diameter

Face: Area

Point: X,Y,Z location

2 Faces: distance or angle between

2 Edges: distance or angle between

the ability to show dual units would be helpful too (mm and inches)

This would be great and would almost eliminate the need for the measurement tool if done well.

That would streamline things so well. This needs to happen!

Great Idea.  This one has been on our radar, and it's great to see the support.  Chaning status to Under Review.

Would be lovely if distance between two items can be measured in additional (when selected) in x, y, z plane or a user specified plane, rather than just direct distance..

Yes, I would love to see this happen too. I would also like this and the measure tool to have duel dimensions. I work with both measurement systems and its a major hassle to be switching assemby units to measure in mm when project is in inches.

This improvement is being tracked internally as FUS-20955.  We'll update the status to Accepted when we begin work.

I find myself doing a lot of measuring when I am doing a top down design.   How long is this,  what diamter is this, etc.,etc..

In another program I use they have implemented this and it is really a big time saver.  Lots less mouse clicks and mouse movement.  The measurement just pops up in the bottom right corner of the canvas.  When I click on an edge of a box and that edge is highlighted the length of that edge is automatically displayed in the bottom right corner.

This would be a big improvement and time saver in my opinion.

I think your idea is similar to this idea request. It looks like they are planning to implement it.

We are working on this now.  We will likely have something to share sometime after February.

Thanks!

We have this working in an internal build.  When selecting objects, measure feedback appears in the lower, right corner.  I'm hopeful that this will be released in an update sometime in April.

Thanks,

Charles

Nice / really looking forward to that !

yeah.....please do this update soon.......

@Anonymous this update has been done. If you select an edge, data will show up in the lower right hand corner of the screen. However, it does not carry over to the CAM workspace for some silly reason

Pressing CTRL and clicking on a second edge will give you the distance between the 2
