Better tools for managing security

Better tools for managing security

Folder and lifecycle state security is a useful feature, but it can be really hard to use.  For example, it's hard to find out which users have access to which folders.  Likewise if a user doesn't have access, it can be hard to figure out why.  If you are managing many folders, you are forced to manage them one at a time.

One possible improvement to provide a view like in the Effective Folder Permissions app, which unrolls the security settings to show a per-user view.

thumb up for the comment. It need better way to display the setting, not just in security side of view. Perhaps can have a better interface to show alll the setting in one glance, then is easy for the admin to manage it, as sometime we need to spend time to find out the reason and where actually deny the access when trying to perform certain task.

The two primary components to give expanded consideration to:

Permission-Based = Inclusive security model

ACL-Based = Exclusive security model

If this improvement were to be incorporated, it also would be very informative (and useful) if the Effective Folder Permissions type functionality included a detailed breakdown and possible "visual map" to the separate types of security models and the effective contribution each of these make to the net effect.

I think that this could be improved by allowing Administrators to create custom roles that they can assign to groups or users.  If these roles can be managed using a matrix as shown in the screenshot above that would be great.  Meridian had a feature similar to this that gave lots of control (if a little awkward to use at times).  I do many implementations of Vault Pro and new administrators to the system do find that they want to restrict some actions available in some roles and increase others but are unable to.

Custom roles... Yes please.  Standard roles are very limiting when trying to do a complex security scheme.
