The emails generated by Vault during lifecycle changes are basically useless as they are very vague and difficult to read. I want the ability to customize the email template including using properties in the subject and body of the email.
For example I'd love the subject of the email to be the <Change Order #> - <Current Status> and the body of the email to include the change order title and description
Not that I am aware of. I do not know how an issue moves up to become a feature in the next release but I know a lot of user have voted for a change to provide for e-mails to only those who have a pending action.
@ThomasRambach Thanks for the feedback. That one is entirely different new Idea i would say. With the current idea we plan to provide a customizable template - right now it is hard coded. Thats it.

Vault 2021 and this still isn't fixed...………………………….Autodesk you are making yourself look like an ASS in the fact that this still isn't fixed after this long of time with users and/or clients asking for years to be fixed. If you cant put tools out with basic common sense functionality don't put it out there to tease people just to let them down. also don't be a lazy-ass and let programmers pitch great ideas and then hard code it in, I just wanna slap the person in the back of the head that even allows such things because to me that's just Programming 101 of DONT DO'S and an easy answer Autodesk can give as to why they cant get to it and fix it.
Also since this is still not fix, while you at it make sure vault can support TLS or SSL. Office 365 is getting pretty
popular these days and not everybody has an email server sitting on site anymore.
First I want you to know this is not directed to you and I apologize for my frustrations, but does Autodesk really expect
the Vault Community to accept the flap-in-the-face so called fix in 2021 ? seriously?
9 years of the Vault Community asking for this to be fix over and over again. Admins suggesting good valid fixes and its as if Autodesk never heard a thing any of us have said over the last 9 years.
1. everyone is still getting unnecessary emails for every status change of the ECO. This has been reported to Autodesk on many occasions as being annoying and unnecessary. ignored by Autodesk
2. Email Subject, Admins still can not choose the properties to display all we can do is change the text outside the {} useless when you cant choose the properties to correspond with the text. ignored by Autodesk
3. Email Body, same as above and even more usless. still cant use properties in the body freely, Autodesk added a listbox and/or a fancy combobox with radio buttons as check boxes and what looks to be a multiline textbox displaying the properties we chose. was that done to make it look like Autodesk put thought into it and to make it look like there was improvement? you gave us check boxes i can see whats checked. great we can include properties, but, but, but Autodesk hard coded where they reside in the body not the Admin and to make this even more comical every property selected to add to the body is concatenated into one big string with commas. Seriously? how long was the collaboration on that one? not even a basic next line function to separate the affected Files/items. ignored by Autodesk
4. Hyperlinks, why does the hyperlink have to display in detail and be multiline? 1 to 5 words does the same job. ignored by Autodesk
please someone at Autodesk explain to me when I click that "customize" button what in the hell am I customizing when Autodesk still has us pinned down to a useless email notification with a new GUI that produces the same results.
for example.... in the iproperties we can access other properties and use them in other fields by simple using <PropertyName>
so im going to go out on a limb here and brainstorm......
Properties within <> are recognized as "User Defined Properties" and Properties within {} are recognized as "System Properties". i.e. <RevNumber> and {CategoryName} so now vault knows the property type and the name to access the value of property now vault can replace the listed property in the template with its value. for example if I wanted to reference some of the original information about File/Item being revised I should be able to write this in the body of the Template.
File <PartNumber> was created by <Designer> on <DateCreated>,checked by <Engineer> and the Initial Approver was {InitialApprover}
if im wrong and there is more im not seeing about "the fix" (lol) Autodesk claims please reply and explain it to me.
@jpchaisson Thanks for your reply and detailed information. In a way what you mentioned above are valid concerns. We never mentioned that we fixed the email notification issue completely. We are planning to do them by phases due to various other priorities. As a Phase 1 we removed the "Hardcoded" email template into customizable one. We plan to do whatever you have mentioned above in the later phases. We will definitely come to you and others when we define the next phase for your inputs and feedback. We will also take the above information into consideration as well.

I'm in agreement that it's still pretty useless. I can add properties, sure, but it doesn't let me put the order of the properties. The other big thing I was hoping to be able to update were putting the comments at the top. No one goes scrolling all the way to the bottom sifting through long links (as mentioned above) to find the comment. If you're rejecting an ECO, the comment is the most important thing and should be at the top. There's no apparent way to do this with the current 2021 version. I'll make a separate idea topic if that's what it will take. But like others, I'm frustrated how Vault seems like the unwanted stepson in updates. In a company as large and profitable as Autodesk, you would think they'd have the resources to do a major feature like this right the first time not in phases (especially as people have been asking for it for years).
Suggest Autodesk attempt to write a requirement specification for each new or change to a feature and send it out to the interested community for review and comment. As in many cases Autodesk Vault developers don't have a clue what we're asking for. Also, suggest that we the user write up our issue with a proposed solution in the form of requirements.
Management is fed up with all of the ECO email notifications. This is from my very involved CEO: "Is there a way to have the system NOT send notification when someone else signs an EN? The volume of notifications takes away from the urgency of people signing the ones they actually need to review and sign."
@ThomasRambach There are only 4-5 Approvers, and they are annoyed by receiving an email every time one of them approves an ECO, especially when one or two approve 6, one after the other. I advised them to filter the emails out of their inbox for the time being. None of the Reviewers have complained, and everyone else is a Notification User.
ECO email notification is still garbage and Autodesk should be completely embarrassed for 1) allowing something so useless to be put into a release and 2) not having this fixed yet after all these years. We disabled the email notifications because of its uselessness.
your answer is totally useless and just another slap-in-the-face to the users who have repeatedly stated the email issues need to be addressed. Why does Autodesk continually ignore this request. Who, in the chain of command at Autodesk, does this issue need to be addressed with to get action? You can put this information out there or we can find the person ourselves. However, if I have to find the person it will be made clear that you refused to allow this community to address a perfectly valid issue. Stop with the patronizing. Do something.
Autodesk Inventor 2022 is available. i have very low expectations in Autodesk for finally stepping up to the plate and fixing this issue so, tell me has this issue been resolved yet ? if not please have someone other than yourself reply to this thread. this has been going on for release after release. i personally am stuck at work management wants me to get sales and project management in the ECO workflow but i keep pushing back because of this issue. Does Autodesk realize the revenue its missing out on if this was fixed ???? im sure there are plenty more Administrators that feel that same as i do and have the opportunity to purchase more seats but wont.
