Sorting Numbers in Vault

Sorting Numbers in Vault

In the Windows Explorer numbers are usually sorted as follows:

0001-01

0001-02

0001-03

0001-11

0001-22

0001-33

In Vault the numbers (IPT, IAM, ...) are sorted as followes:

0001-01

0001-11

0001-02

0001-22

0001-03

0001-33

In Vault the parts are all mixed in a folder. It is hard to keep track!

It would be nice to have a possibility to configure this in vault.

Does anyone knows a possibility to configure this in the "web.config" or another way to fix this?

Thanks!

Okay, I know a lot of people are happy this was fixed, but it just screwed up our file system.  With the error lasting so many years, we updated our part library years ago by adding zeros so everything would sort correctly.  We skipped 2018, and recently installed 2019 and now everything is out of sort because the zeros are ignored if between a letter and another number.  Windows 10 did something similar to this, but did allow the user to change a setting to toggle the two sort methods.   Autodesk can you please give us the ability to toggle?  We have hundreds of parts that are now out of order.

Not a problem. I added my input because Jason Courtemanche in tech support directed me to per case #14759235.

Did they actually fix this? I'm still seeing non-numerical sorting in the Project Explorer folder tree and the correct numerical sorting in the "View" area in Vault Pro 2019

No they did not, at least in 2019. Their take on it was, it was screwed up before, but now they fixed it. But I said people have been conditioned for years the other way, so why not make it an option like Windows 10 did. I have yet to I stall 2020, so maybe there's hope.

Yes, Dan, that's exactly what we see, as well, of course, we're also using 2019 Pro.

We've given up on the sorting issue, as well as typing in the right side "view" pane, to navigate. That works very well in Windows Explorer, but not in the Vault. Therefore, we all feel like our hands are tied.

Basically, I'm just telling all of our people that the search box (with wildcards) is going to be your best bet. Navigating will be too slow and frustrating.

Hi,

please see my last post in this similar ideastation entry.

Sortierung Ordner Vault Explorer vs. Windows Explorer - Autodesk Community

@ihayesjr, is there a new idea needed with I refer in the other idea, since the other functions are implemented and voting is no longer available in implemened ideas, or could you clone the idea for the new request?

Many thanks!
