Use Autodesk 360 for Profile Settings

Status: New Idea
by Distinguished Contributor Generic ‎12-10-2014 12:47 PM - edited ‎12-10-2014 12:56 PM

Update: Nevermind Co-Worker found this exact thing setting up a new profile. Apologies.

It'd be nice if our program settings could be remotely stored using our Autodesk 360 profiles like smart phone operating systems do.

Switching physical computers and version updates could be a lot less painless as a result.

I have seen many people complain about it but strangely not one post on the ideastation...

There really needs to be some method of disabling Autodesk 360 in Inventor for the user base that doesn't want to use it.

Personally I don't mind it, but I know many clients that do not want to have the Autodesk 360 drive in their "favourites" by default.

In Truth this should be the same for all products, If the client doesn't want to use the function don't force it on them.

Autodesk 360 option.png

It Could be an option in "Options" or a Right click "Remove from Favourites".

Currently if you accidentally Click on the grey area it Automagically (that's right its magical...) brings up the login dialog box. Now that wouldn't be an issue if the box popped up in front of everything... instead it appears behind other windows making it a pain for anyone not using Autodesk 360 to switch folders.

That's the main reason why I'm posting up here in the hopes that the issues gets looked at, I would like to see the option to remove the link altogether so its not an issue, but if they fix the random login pop up issues that would also work.

Regards,

James

Decals in a DWF file within Autodesk 360

Status: New Idea

After creating a DWFx file form a model that included decails, they will presented within Design Review.

But when uploaded it to Autodesk 360 and viewing it on the Ipad or Google Chrome, the decails are gone.

I like to see a solution for this.

Converter Mechanical Desktop to Inventor Files - Cloud Based

Status: New Idea
by Active Contributor haisin.rusli ‎02-02-2014 11:37 PM - edited ‎02-02-2014 11:39 PM

Hi,

Is it possible for Autodesk to make a Cloud Based - File Converter From Mechanical Desktop to Inventor Files. They should including history and drawing Files.

Because many of my customers still using Mechanical Desktop and they reluctant to change to Autodesk Inventor because most of their data still on Mechanical Desktop Files and no good tools to convert it to Autodesk Inventor.

"They have to install Mechanical Desktop 2009 and download Inventor 2009 / 2012 to translate these files and many of them were failed, need much Time and resources "

This facility should be access using Autodesk Sucbscription ( Autodesk 360 ) such as: Optimization, Rendering, etc. User just need to upload their MD Files and they will receive the result from Autodesk 360.

By this make us easy to" push" user to buy and use Autodesk Inventor.

Thank you!

API HELP and Generic HELP

Status: New Idea
by Mentor on ‎03-26-2013 12:34 PM

Unless I am missing something.  I would like the ability to customize the Help that comes with the product.  Mainly I really want the ability to be able to bookmark certain things (currently I am in the Inventor API Help) that I have read and need to get back too and don't want to have to try to re-find.  I don't use the generic help very often (f1), generally refer to using the internet, but for trying to learn the API and the developer help system I use it a lot.

I don't do much with ADSK 360 so maybe there is something currently in there?  But if I don't have to use that then it's one less thing I have to worry about.

We require the ability to disable (wiithout ability for users to bypass) all Autodesk 360 cloud features. This is a security risk for my industry and would not be allowed per government regulations.

This idea has been implemented within Autodesk Inventor 2015. Special thanks to the author of this Idea and likewise to everyone who cast your Kudo for it. Enhancements were made within the Inventor 2015 Installer so that Autodesk 360 is available as a shared component. It can be deselected to prevent its installation, or it can be installed in a disabled state, to be enabled later. Please be sure to check this out in Autodesk Inventor 2015. Thanks!

It can take an exceptionally long time to render a detailed image or process a video from Inventor Studio. It would be a great new feature to be able to render to the Autodesk Cloud directly from Inventor studio.
