Conveyor users need the ability to use FDS to perform studies. The user needs to place carriers on curves to generate a profile path. See example.
This is needed to ensure that the area is clear for movement of the carrier and the product is carrying.
Required Output needed is 2D Plan View (see example)
Future Output is 3D Swept Volume for clash detection.
Created in 2D or 3D. Horizontallly and Vertically.
Movement is not requested.
This is needed for material movement clearance studies.
The user can specify in Inventor or AutoCAD the order that an asset is placed in a project. Factory Asset attributes can be used to specify the phase and/or order a given asset is commissioned. This information can be interpreted by Navisworks for the 4D / timeliner process.
Several customers have now requested that FDS allow users to compute the Return On Investment for their projects. This would allow users to understand project costs earlier in the design phase and have faster iteration of design optimization.
How it could work:
The ultimate should include the REVIT family of products. Looks like I will have to purchase the Building Design Suite to get more of the products I need and forgo the Factory Design Utilities since it can not be purchases out side of the suite. It is to Costly to purchase the Factory design suite and then purchase the REVIT products along with it at $5,500 each ($15,000).
If one uses Factory Assets and Connectors to configure a new piece of equipment on a Factory Layout, it would be handy to publish this new equipment configuration as its own Factory Asset, from the Factory Layout environment. This is similar to the idea of "Creating Assets using Assets". Hope all is well and have a blessed day!
When we authorize an assembly asset we can manipulate only assembly parameters (Key Parameters Window).
I need to manipulate parts and subassembly parameters too.
Often when we create assembly using Top-Down process, we manage this assembly by skeleton or main multibody part, which consist all main parameters of an assembly. There are no ways by manipulate them from assembly parameters.
There are times when I want to find the asset of the same definition as the Object I am currently selecting.
If Asset broweser show the same asset automatically. I can know what asset is this very easy.
Allow us to include the green connector in iParts. this way we can use already created iPart factories / children for assets. We have occasion to use Factory design utilities with iParts factories which contain 100's of variations. I do not want to publish them as individual assets one at a time!
i´m testing the labs tool Process Simulation 360 and i think it is a great tool and easy to use. But i don´t know the meaning of MTTR and MTBF and there is no discription.
And now my idea:
Create my layout in ACAD Architecture and put in all of my material flow, product and so on. Export an XML or something else and load it in this new labs tool. In Process Simulation 360 i want to check out if my layout can reach my output or what happen if my processor is faster, slower or stops for 2 hours because of a crash in the maschine.
A nice to have: All operations and stations are in Process Simulation 360 from my ACAD layout export.

Currently, if you use the feature property suppression option, (see attached) the suppression is not recognized when setting various levels of detail. I use this property for turning Clearance areas on and off. When there are multiple pieces of equipment that have these clearances, we use a Level of Detail to turn them all off or on as needed. Currently you have to actually suppress the part to add it to the Level of Detail in the assembly.
I like the idea to do pictures from a machine in a factory who exist and send it to 123D Catch and use the mesh model in Inventor (Using Mesh-Enabler) to create a legacy object as an asset.
I never tried the 123D Catch with larger objects as one meter. Also I have errors when I download the mesh. But this will be a great workflow to catch legacy objects in a factory.
Regards to all the others who like this.
We must have the possibility to add more production information's to the assets. Then we can use them for simulation and optimization. Also this assets need to be used in the early stage of the process.
Workflow - define your stations include. all relevant properties - place them in your factory - do simulation/optimization - check locations of stations against the factory building - do optimization again.
Today the Process simulation has only icons - so no idea what it will be. If this process is final - you start again in ACA with the optimization (and you type in all the properties again).
When Creating Assets, often I have to repeatedly republish the asset. It would be nice to have a Republish workflow that could do the following with one button:
- publish to same folder
- publish with the same asset name (to overwrite)
- Set 2D View Options.
Also, if the asset has already been published, these setting should be remembered.
When publishing FDS Assets, the dwg blocks created are set to allow explode in AutoCAD. Why not set them to NO so that the bi-directional work flow is not broken so easily by poor Acad practice. An experienced user can reset this function if needed in the block editor.
Factory assets should have an attribute that allows the asset creator to specify what the default layer the asset should be assigned to when it is placed in a drawing. The benefit of this feature is time savings and repeatabiliyt of workflow.
