Would like the ability to deplay the DWG overlay in the Inventor drawing.
Also would like to able to create dimensions relative to the dwg overlay.
I believe this is a key feature missing from the factory design suite. This would allow me to present one drawing file that contains all the 2D and 3D representations.
Would it be possible to add functionality to automate the creation of asset tags. For example if I have a sequence of items, like a conveyor line, I would like to add asset tags to each one and apply serial numbers. However, it is quite cumbersome to have to add asset tags to each one. It would be great if I could select on an item, say a component "Base:1" and then apply asset tags to each member of the family (Base:2, Base:3, etc.).
My initial thoughts would be to create a special workpoint / connector, to attach the asset tag, on each published asset. Then the command could be launched and a prefix could be assigned (maybe have the project number first, then the serial number) and Inventor would then go through each occurrence of the part and apply the next asset tag to it. It would be good to be able to record the simulation and export a section as a movie file that you could embed in a power point. We could have done with it the other day when we wanted to graphically show a standard batch process as part of a sales power point. We can't seem to share the simulation to other users in 360 either.
my next idea is related to my previous idea I think it would be useful to have an option to prioritize operations on processors with multiple operations that are not sequential. Currently, if a processor has multiple operations that are "filled" with product at the same time, the operations are processed randomly and one is not able to determine and set up a desired order of operations.
I think it would be nice to have a possibility to set up a round-robin processing on processors with multiple operations (that are not sequential). If I have a processor with three operations, I want them to be processed always in the same order (1st,2nd,3rd,1st,2nd,3rd,1st,2nd,3rd,...) no matter if there are more waiting products for some operation than for another (i.e. 5 waiting products for op. no. 1, 3 for no. 2, 7 for no. 3).
There are many customers who do not use the Fds with Autocad. They do not use the Synchronisation between Autocad and Inventor. They only use Inventor for placing Assets to create their Layout and they use the Inventor Drawing for detailing the Factory Layout because it is easy to create side views and intersection views. Therefore it is not possible to use the asset labelling in the Inventor drawing. It would be a nice feature for them, if the object labelling of the assets, which can be done on the Autocad Layout, could be shown in the Inventor drawing.
I am working on document factory layouts in the Inventor drawing environment, but have hit a snag. The drawing environment is great for creating my plan, iso and side views, but I don't seem to be able to bring the Asset Tags (haven't tried Descriptors yet) into the drawing environment. Can we add this functionality into the drawing environment to save time having to relabel the components? This could either be placed near the asset, like in the AutoCAD sync'd file, a property in a text box pull down or even something that could be placed into a parts list. I have been working on developing some workflows using the same AutoCAD building layout and then placing it as an XRef into different AutoCAD sublayouts. These workflows work great for the FDS Standard version, but I have discovered a problem when syncing to Inventor. For some reason it won't let me sync from Inventor to AutoCAD because it wants to overwrite the XRef files. It would be much easier to simply see any XRef files as references also in Inventor and not attempt to overwrite them during the Sync process. That way a master layout overlay could be used multiple times in a large comprehensive design. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. When we create a sublayout from an existing factory layout, we can choose the name of the sublayout but not it's location on the workspace. It would be great to add this ability in order to position the manufacturing lines were we want.
For example I have one building with 3 lines that I want to have in separate layouts to ease the implantation process. My ideal folder structure would be :

| | - general_layout.iam
| | | - line01
| | | | - line01.iam
| | | - line02
| | | | - line02.iam
| - Customer02
| | - C2_general_layout.iam
With the actual settings, if I use the sublayout button directly in Inventor, all the sublayout (my lines in this example) will be in the workspace folder.

Why not have Inventor "variable" partameters exposed on to the 2D asset as a dynamic parameter within AutoCAD. example of which could be a conveyor with a length parameter, could this not be displayed just like a dynamic block when in the autocad environment??
changing the position in patterns via dragging them in the
browser window would be nice. As the source object is en-
closed in the pattern group, this should be possible.
Also exploding patterns would be nice in some cases I guess
If an asset is placed on a factory floor, and is replace by other asset using component replace, nameoof the event in broeser window is got getting updated.
In browswrer window, component name is not getting replace in the new component occurence name and number.
Worth if this is fixed.
On the same study file, at first i run a simple Fill analysis.
After running this simple Fill analisys, without changing any of the paramaters, i wish to add to it a Pack analisys, so i select "Fill+Pack". THis will delete the already, time consuming made, Fill analisys and restart a "Fill+Pack" one.
It would be nice to have the posibility to resume from the switch over point of the previous Fill analysis.
By selecting a connector in the browser while in the Asset Builder, the color gets selectable. However, it doesn't stick to it if the asset is published or the AB is closed.
I see huge value in different colored connectors to ease up the progress of making layouts. Many different people are making layouts in my company, but usually none of them are making the assets.
Then an extra step might be taken and we can only connect blue+blue, green+green, yellow+yellow etc.
When I click Sync Inventor it locks up my ACAD while the sync is taking place. This prevents me from accessing other drawings that are currently open in other tabs (drawings that are not being synced). It would be nice to continue working on another drawing while the syncing is taking place without having to open another instance of ACAD.
I'd like to use iLogic to access parameters of factory assets inserted into a factory layout.
Example: A few days ago I tried to access parameters of inserted factory assets using iLogic and it could not be done. I wanted to create a simple iLogic form that would show how many wall panels remains to be inserted into the wall frame (wall frame was also a factory asset and was driven by its length, width and height). Values should be taken from parameters of inserted assets. Currently it is possible to see and change factory asset parameters only in its own parameter window.
For example, I got two sources: the first source would send items with predefined output rate, the second one would send items depending on whether the first source sent the item or not. In other words, I want the second source to send the workpiece (item) only when the order arrives from the first source.
I now I can use the Merge function and force the order to wait for the workpiece (item) but I don't want to use constant (scheduled) output rate with no relation to the occurence of the order.
i would like to improve the looks of my material flow analysis. Therefore I would like to adjust the width of my materialflow arrows proportionally to their transportation cost. Is that possible?
Moreover I would like to assign different colours for different jobs to my arrows.
Has anybody an idea how i can do that? Didn't find anything online.
I would be really grateful for your help!
The Factory Asset Warehouse is a great tool to locate assets for AutoCAD and Inventor.
I feel an area has been overlooked – assets for 3ds Max Design.
Videos promote how useful 3ds Max Design is to animate the factory layout, but it is a tedious process to build bones and linkages to animate robots and similar equipment.
Wouldn't’t it be great if a user could browse the warehouse to find a fully rigged robot, fork truck, crane, or other factory asset and just drop it into 3ds Max Design? This could save a lot of time for users new to 3ds Max Design.
I welcome your feedback.
Please consider including AutoCAD Electrical in the suite to support wiring the equipment. ACE is already included in PrDS, FDS users could benefit also.
Also please consider adding AutoCAD MEP to add support for wiring and plumbing the building to run these utilities to the machine equipment.
If machinery moves it would be great if the building wiring/plumbing model could update.
This could provide an even more complete BOM of equipment and MEP requirements for a design layout.
Please don't raise the cost of FDS Ultimate.
If ACE or ACMEP cannot be included, please make them available as an add-on module for a reasonable cost (less than $500).
