Hello Technical Support Team, in our last case study, we realize that the predicted pressure in the mold was overestimated as compared to the one obtained experimentally during a powder injection molding. We think that Moldflow consider the mold cavity as airtight where the air in front of the flow front is compressed and may produce a small overpressure (difference of about 33%) only during the last stage of the molding process (i.e., simulations were in good agreement with experiments over the 80 % of the mold filling stage, and become to diverge during the last 20% of the mold filling: see the fig. 7 attached to this email). Your technical support just confirmed us that the venting analysis is not available in the Powder injection molding module. Experimentally, our mold is not tight and in fact, we think that no air is compressed in front of the flow front, probably explaining the difference between simulations and experiments. Since it is already available in 3D Thermoplastics Injection Molding, thermoplastics Overmolding, Reactive Molding, Microchip Encapsulation molding processes, we encourage you to include this venting analysis in the Powder injection molding module to enhance accuracy between numerical simulation and experimental results. Best regards,
