Our product data and processes are very dependent on effectivity dates. We need to be able to deliver effectivity dates for data downstream for integration with other systems and reporting.

We already have this on our feature list.

In PLM360, the history of an item is available through a change log, however, the change log is not available through the API for each record in order to enable historical reporting on the actions for an item.

Use Case: changes to Product Name as it moves from temporary to legal versions.

Previously we had problems with product name changes over time because we were communicating to customers about products they didn’t buy.

Possible workarounds:

We could write on every transaction into the ODS

For Ad hoc we could clone records into another workspace and store them for a historical view

Overlaying Report Types

Status: Accepted
by Distinguished Contributor obourne on ‎11-16-2012 08:26 AM

I want to overlay two report types - Stacked and Line charts. My reason is that I want to create a chart of "hours needed" for all projects company wide by month for an entire year (hence a stacked chart) but I want to overlay available man hours on top of that so I can visually see where I'm short workers.

Having visibility into future labor needs is critical for senior management as our hiring cycle can take months.

Export Workspace Item listings

Status: Accepted
by Employee on ‎10-12-2012 05:35 AM

It would be useful to allow users to directly export a Workspace Item listing to Excel.  You can set-up a report to do this, but for basic users it would help to directly export from the listing screen.

Paul, could you expand on this a little more. Also, an image of what you're thinking would be helpful also. Thanks for this idea and the others you've listed!

Ture x-axis

Status: Accepted
by rjohnson on ‎04-03-2014 10:28 AM

Currently, the x-axis in the Column and Line chart reports are merely a category type axis.  If I create a line chart to count how may records were created each week, month, etc., PLM will not scale the x-axis accordingly.  For example, if I had 3 items in Jan, none in Feb, 4 in Mar and 1 in Arp, then the graphs will have three evenly spacee columns (one for Jan, Mar and Apr).  I would like to see a true linear x-axis with a gap between Jan and Mar to show that nothing happened that month.

PLM360 does what Excel calls a "Line" chart.  I would like to be able to do what Excel calls a "Scatter" plot.  Attached is a comparison of a quick report on # of people hired / year.  You can see the visual difference.

Thank you.

Pop Up HTML Table Report from Dashboard

Status: Accepted
by matt.wegmann2 on ‎03-18-2014 02:41 PM

This is strictly a UI type improvement.  We have multiple use cases where allowing for public reports to be opened from the dashboard report section would help greatly.  These could be anything from open user tasks (non-WF related) in certain workspaces or a list of open project items.  Our users have repeatedly asked for that even if the information is two clicks away in the reports section.  This would be benefitial when you have reports that you use to drive process rather than make decisions.  Especially because the charts do not have drill down capability.

When I rename a Tab name I'd like to have the name in the left view filters reflect it.

Currently if I rename a the Grid tab to NOTES and I create a filter the heading Grid still appears. I would expect to see NOTES as the new section heading.

The same goes for reports.

My use case is that's it's very diffucult for me to train my users on how to set up views/reports as they get confused by the naming mismatch.

Report Ownershipt - Admin Override

Status: Accepted
by *Expert Elite* on ‎01-17-2014 11:26 AM

I have a number of reports that were shared by an ex-employee. I need (as the administrator) the ability to adjust the report ownership. We can then edit, delete, or unshare these reports.

PLM360 Offline workspace

Status: Future Consideration
by Contributor jonas.andersson on ‎11-15-2013 04:03 AM

I would like to have a workspace downloaded/ checked out for me to bring with me to be filled in where there is no internet connection. At a later time, I wich to easily upload/ check in. (I am aware of the import feature)

One situation, a meeting at a customer where I have an action list/ meeting notes to be filled in using a template in PLM360.

An other situation, factory audit in China, where I fill in the needed items as I go along.

Kind regards,

Scatter Charts in Reports

Status: Future Consideration
by dnaugle on ‎11-13-2013 12:05 PM

One of the ways we are using PLM360 is to gather new product ideas and vet those ideas for the selection of NPD projects. We have fields for product line, market, global region, etc that tell specifics about the idea.

If we had the option to create a scatter chart as a report output it could really assist us in selecting which ideas are the best. For example: The ability to visualize and plot the complexity of a project vs. the ROI could help to identify the incremental, distinctive and breakthrough opportunities.

Dan, This is a good idea. We will take this into consideration, and add to our future enhancement list. Thanks, Trung
