I feel there is a need for significant improvements to the project management tab. I have been using it for a while and I have a number of issues. Many of them have bee reported here already (e.g. ability to add columns). However there are some fundamental changes required to make this tab useful for managing anything other than simple projects. Some other issues are;
- it is essential that reports can be run on projects
- milestone dates must be able to be changed and modified through the project UI (regardless of whether they are linked tasks or not)
- milestones and milestone status should be visible in the gantt chart
- Selectable colours
- etc etc etc
I'm a huge advocate of PLM 360 but currently the PM tab is letting it down. I've used another web based project management system before that I think you guys should have a look at. Please PM me for the URL if you're interested.
Is there a chance that the same ability to move multiple dates out at the same time that is found in the milestones tab, can be replicated in the Project Management tab? With the complex way we are using PLM360 to support project management we cannot utilize the milestones tab.
That said we really like the ability to move multiple task dates out without having to change them one by one.
It would be a time saver to be able to configure a custom BOM view for the Flat view, Similar to the nested view. This could possibly be implemented with a checkbox for and Applies to Nested, Flat or Both.
We have set up custom BOM field that is used to trigger spawing of tasks to perform action on the item in the BOM Row, I.E. Generate an RFQ request where the item info is copied via script to the RFQ Record. The issue is that in the nested view the quantity shown is the unit quantity not the project rolled up quantity. To get that you need to switch to the flat view get the rolled up quantity and switch back to the nested view and enter the quantity to Request for Quote.
This is just one use case, but feel that functionality would make the BOM View for useful.
PLM360 is proving to be a great tool for us in support of new idea mangement, project selection and project management. But one other piece could make all the difference...
A communication tool. Something where we could share quick notes or a chat with teammates in a project community. Perhaps being able to "watch" an item for new comments, specific conversations regarding that item that are happing everyday on some level. The daily notifications are helpful but a section of the homepage or a seperate window that could be kept open that displays "live" data would be fantastic.
The goal, replace all project specific communication now taking place in e-mail. Facilitate and store this communication within an item and display all "watched" item communications on my homepge / dashboard.
To aide breaking down of a BOM View into lists for different purposes the custom BOM view is great. But when you have multiple functional areas looking at that information such as Procurement, Fabrication, Wharehouse etc. it would be nice to be able to filter the list to show only items in the BOM that met a specific criteria. Similar to the way Excell uses it Autofilter.
The idea would be that you have a filter row you could pick or enter the filter than apply and the currently displayed view would get filtered to show only matching items (parent items could be included if that causes issues). This functionality would be used for both Nested and Flat BOM Views.
Both for Service Requests and Sales Meetings planning would be usefull to have a kid of report called
something like Planning report showing Dates on columns(for visits, meeting, events, etc) and being able to select another field for rows and cell contents.
It would be something like what MS Excel calls Pivot Tables. I understand it may be not trivial to develop but, from the management point of view, the applications would be many. Time management is an high priority issue for all.
For instance, think about a report with dates in columns titles, technicians names on rows titles and the the scheduled customer's name, with contact's phone number and Service Request descriptions inside the cells.

The TABS section of the preview should open up and expand when clicked on instead of redirecting to the specific item. This would allow the quick easy access to key information such as BOM items, attachments, relationships, changes ext. Also there should be the ability to click the specified print view for the item as well.
