Allow a BULK IMPORT of Attachments

Status: Accepted
by Contributor Asingh5 on ‎11-05-2012 08:15 AM

It is highly tedious and annoying to attach a pdf or a dwg file to a list of items in a workspace. Having the ability to bulk upload attachments to specific items in a workspace would be ideal for mass drawing updates or file updates.

One solution would be importing a zip file of the attaching files and an excel file that would have the item descriptor in one column and the corresponding file name in the other column.

Desktop folders

Status: Future Consideration
by Contributor jonas.andersson on ‎02-13-2013 03:45 AM

A function where a "desktop folder" can be added inorder to add/view documents from the desktop/finder directly into PLM360. The folder to be added should be connected to a certain workspace, where the user can chose which workspaces should be able to "share" information.

The folder should be a direct connection through the username and password from the user, where permissions should be added depending on what role the user has.

Similar to dropbox, but with the added finess of PLM360.

Kind regards,

Jonas

Item Preview Enhancment

by Contributor Asingh5 ‎11-06-2012 08:22 AM - edited ‎11-06-2012 08:25 AM

The TABS section of the preview should open up and expand when clicked on instead of redirecting to the specific item. This would allow the quick easy access to key information such as BOM items, attachments, relationships, changes ext. Also there should be the ability to click the specified print view for the item as well.

Allow bulk Import into Multiple Selection Picklists

Status: Implemented
by Contributor Asingh5 ‎11-14-2012 10:52 AM - edited ‎11-14-2012 10:53 AM

When using the import tool, performing a bulk import of values into a "single selection" linking picklist is possible. Unfortunately I cannot select a "Multiple Selection" linking picklist it in my import to do the same thing.

This feature is very important for our company since it would allow us to show our linked product items in one specific field, as opposed to having multiple "single selection picklists"--which doesn’t make a clean visual.

The data I have is in a excel format. With over thousands of entries, having the import tool to bulk import the linking picklist values in the multiple selection picklists would allow me to provide my tenant with the information it needs efficiently and visually appealing.

Formatting with Reports on PLM360

Status: Comments Requested
by Contributor Asingh5 ‎03-01-2013 07:12 AM - edited ‎03-01-2013 07:33 AM

Currently when generating a report, PLM360 provides a plain excel output which is not very practical dealing with a large amount of information for over 1000 items.

When exporting the report to Excel, the report should be formatted similarly as the HTML version.

Below are some features to make reports on PLM more practical.

  • Freeze Panes - Top Row
  • Filters on column headings
  • Bordering lines to show column separation
  • Colored rows

To illustrate and example of what I mean...

This is how a regular excel exported report looks.        This is how it should ideally look.

Product Lifecycle Implementation Guide

Status: Accepted
by stefchouinard on ‎09-26-2012 12:39 PM

There needs to be a step by step guide on how to create a product from start to finish in the PLM 360 system using all the various workspace components. This will enable companies that do not have a PLM or have never seen one easily adopt and setup their PLM 360 environment without the need to hire a PLM specialist to configure the environment for the product.

Ideastation Search?

Status: Solution Provided
by Valued Contributor j.hendrickson on ‎12-15-2014 08:50 AM

Unless I'm just missing it I think it would be helpful to have a way to search the Ideastation forum to see whether an idea has already been submitted.

Hi Joe,

I am glad to see you taking the time to submit more ideas on the Idea Station.

The Idea Station has a more complex search.

You can search  by going through the Accepted, Future Consideration, Solution Provided, or Implemented in the toolbox.

For more general search

  • Go to the top right hand corner of the page and select "Advance Search" right below the search bar.
  •  After clicking on the "Advance Search" hyperlink it will take ou to a Search Page.
  • At the left hand side you will see a series of dropdown selection.
  • Go to Location and click on the plus sign "+" a long list will drop down.
  • Scroll down until you see PLM 360.  Then click on the plus sign "+", and click on PLM 360 Idea Station
  • Go to Advanced Search Option
  • You can utilize the "With the Exact Phrase" and type if key word like "Grid Tab" - This will display all ideas with the keyword Grid on the Idea Station.

Also don't worry about submitting duplicate ideas or that someone already submitted.

It is our job to sort through and read all the ideas. :smileyvery-happy:

Reconcile Workflow References

Status: Under Review
by Valued Contributor j.hendrickson on ‎02-05-2014 04:39 PM

Just a quick observation and suggestion... so it seems that in Security the "Workflow" permission allows you to see the "Workflow Actions" tab but you need the "Associated Workflow" permission to see the "Workflow" tab.

Also, it's confusing that there are two "Current State" columns available to show in a workspace view.  At least in Reports it gives you the option to also show the group that they're coming from, although then you have to export that so that's a bit cumbersome to turn that off and on.

I guess I don't really have a suggestion at this point, but it is something that should be cleaned up.

Thanks for listening!
