When an engineer creates a markup of a visualization inside of a Change Order, they sometimes need to exit the ECO in process, to look at other information somewhere within Vault... another drawing for example. So they save the Markup, save and exit the ECO without submitting it yet.... and go about whatever they needed to do. Then when they are ready, they go back into editing the change order. however, Vault will not allow them to re-open the Markup they had saved and continue editing.... it forces them to save their new changes, along with whatever markups they had already done, as a new markup file. There have been instances where I have gotten 5 markup dwf's containing essentially the same information, built on with each successive markup.
It would be preferable if they could simply reopen, add some markups and save the same dwf... so all markups end up in one file. The current method is cluttered, messy and begging for something to get missed.
We have a company numbering scheme to mirror into Vault. The numbering scheme has been historical to our company procedures for many years and we wanted the same scheme used in the Vault. The scheme requires a number of different prefixes to help categorise the Drawings / Documents, then every Drawing / Document has a different Sequential number. However the software only allows a new seq.no if all the prefixes are the same. I would have thought our proposed scheme was a fairly standard way of setting up a numbering scheme. Please rectify for future releases.
It would be a choice at to set that, when selecting open, one should come primarily to vault, if you use the vault. Similarly, in an assembly, then the place from vault to be the default, if you use the vault. In essence, if you use the vault so it shall be primary to open or place from vault
We want to move all files that are used by an assembly to a specific folder. Right now I have to use the "uses" tab, pick one file, go to folder an then drag and drop into the correct folder. I would like to move files from the uses tab in vault by drag and drop in to the correct folder
It would REALLLY save us a lot of time when dealing with old or contractor files if this limitation could be removed. See attached picture. If you can do this manually I dont see why it cant be done via a search select all and drag to new folder. This would save us many many hours.
When batch plotting inside Vualt Client, I would like the option to plot individual Autocad drawings to a single PDF file. Currently, Inventor drawings will do this automatically, since the sheets are a set within a single idw file. With Autocad drawings, however, we often have projects that may contain as many as 36 individual dwg files. Even if these are controlled by a sheet set or an Acad Electrical project, they batch plot from Vault Client as individual pdf files. These, then, have to be manually compiled into a single pdf for transmittal to customer, vendors etc.
The option, (checkbox perhaps) to compile them into a single pdf right in the plot window, would be a tremendous time saver.
Currently, so I am told, there is no integration between Item properties and those in File Store on the same object.
Example: A file in File Store is at Revision 0, you assign it to an Item in the Item Master. In Item Master change the revision (manually or through an ECO or Lifecycle change), and push that revision out to the CAD file (idw or ipt etc). Make changes to the CAD file, save and check back in to Vault. The file in File Store is still at Rev 0, though the ITEM is at Rev 1.
Linked with this, the Vault Revision Table.... pulls it's Revision value from the File Store value... so if it's not in sync with Item Master... it becomes a useless tool.
It would be great if we could change the unanimous approval setting in an existing change order. There are times when the routing should be unanimously approved and other times when it should not. Currently, I believe we need two routing definitions to support this. It would be nice to offer this setting in the Open state for a Change Administrator to change when needed.
