Backup Databases Only

Status: Future Consideration
by Product Support on ‎06-26-2012 06:20 AM

It would be useful to be able to backup\restore with out the filestore.

A commandline swithc would be useful to exclude the filestore from the backup if you just want to either validate your databases by restoring them to a test\dummy machine.

For sending the backup to support

For testing the migration to a new release

Then the ability to attach the filestore later.

Revision Table for Items

Status: Under Review
by *Expert Elite* on ‎06-26-2012 05:43 AM

The current revision table functionallity within AutoCAD and Inventor only works with file lifecycling / revisions, for those of us that use items solely we'd like the option to use this feature as well

Hello,

i think it's useful to have a scripting-interface like vlogic (http://justonesandzeros.typepad.com/blog/2012/03/vlogic-2013.html).

It should be possible to make extensions with this scripting interface for the job server, too.

Best regards

Michael

Copy design on items

Status: Under Review
by Valued Contributor smilinger on ‎06-23-2012 11:35 PM

It is easy to do copy design on CAD files and get new items and BOM, but some of our customers use vault to manage their design with no CAD models or with non-structured CAD files, so it is impossible to use copy design function on their files and promote new items and BOMs.

The only feasible way we found is to export items to a csv file, change the file manually in excel, and then import items with the modified csv file. But I don't think this is a good idea because it is very easy to make some mistake and it is not easy work.

We think a copy design function for items is needed here, it should just like the copy design function on files, we can choose the new item number for the copied item, choose which items to be reused, replaced, or copied as well, together with their attachments.

We also think a SaveCopyAs function for item is very useful in such situation, a new item will be created immediately with the same BOM stucture and same properties, then we can modify the new item as needed.

My Worklist Improvements

Status: Under Review
by *Expert Elite* on ‎06-21-2012 06:09 AM

The Change Order "My Worklist" is very limited in functionallity, but could be very useful with some tweaks and updates.

1) I want to be able to edit the change order from the list (via right-click or double click)

2) Sorting options including by date created, last updated, or by the state

3) ability to set priorities / drag-drop the order to prioritize

4) Filter based on role / state. For example only show me the ones where I am the approver or I am the approver and the change order is in the review state

5) Change Order turns red when its past the due date

Ability to Copy Design Previous Revisions

Status: Accepted
by *Expert Elite* on ‎06-06-2013 01:06 PM

We have a situation where we have an assembly that we need to make a copy design of an old revision of.

Without jumping through a ton of hoops this would make a nice enhancement for this software.

Better method of locking Change Orders

Status: Implemented
by Mentor on ‎06-06-2013 12:34 PM

Been using Change Orders since they were available. One issue we  continue to run into is when you have mutliple users working on the same change, they often leave the CO open the entire day. It's the repository for collecting data about  project. There is a 30 minute lease on CO's and if they don't save they will lose this lease without warning. Another user jumps in now has control of the CO. Often resulting in loss of data for the first user.

Please review the following discussion and please fix.

Vault has the technology of checking in / out. Let's maybe incorporate this same mechanism or the like into CO's...

Or eliminate the time out mechanism and give the administrator the abilty to unlock a CO.

Vault Open Dialog Box Preview

Status: Future Consideration
by kdomkus on ‎06-05-2013 04:46 PM

Re: Inventor 2014
It would be nice if the Vault file open dialog box included the preview picture like it used to in version 2013 (instead of the 'search')? The regular file open has it. An option to toggle one way or another would be great.

Using 'large icons' almost works but normally I've got a lot of files to look thru so I want to get in the area quickly (using 'list' view), then step thru the 3 or 4 candidates, figuring out which one I need.

Suppress Read-Only Message

Status: Future Consideration
by Valued Mentor on ‎05-31-2013 11:54 AM

When after selecting 'No' to 'check out' document, its irritating to then again answer 'yes' to the question 'open document read-only'.  If I select no to checkout, AutoCAD should just open the document read-only with no questions being asked regarding the read-only status.

Vault Pro Deployment

Status: Future Consideration
by Distinguished Contributor jparks_79 on ‎01-18-2013 01:29 PM

Currently when creating deployments for our cad stations, we have to create 1 deployment for Inventor and acad. Then a seperate deployemnt for Vault Pro.

Please consider adding the flexibility to add a pay version of vault to the Inventor Deployments

Thanks,

Jeremy
