Probably useful feature - create two sides for comfortable file operations.
A possible, improve keyboard navigation in Vault Explorer. For example, enable handling of such hotkeys:
- Enter - to call main command, assigned on mouse double click
- Backspace - to move up instead history back
- Alt+Left/Right - to move back/forward through history
- Menu key - for object menu
- etc.
Not sure how often this comes up for other users, but where I work it comes up a fair amount.
If there was a way to export out the detailed list of uses for an assembly out of vault, say into a notepad file this would be useful. I know this functionality is not in workgroup. If it is in Pro please funnel this function down to lower versions. ![]()
Going through an implementation of vault, the lack of the option for a multi-list as a property type is very limiting when it comes to integration.
This may be a limitation that stems from matching the capability of the authoring tools, but those could stand to be updated as well. Alternatively, there could be a translation that would take a comma separated list in a property or attribute into a multi-list property.
I have had my VAR in and there was no solution currently for this.
When we had the revision in the rev table on the drawing being driven by Vault, the previous rev line would revert to the newly created revision. We would have to manually change it back and update the new line to the current rev. There is an obvious glitch in the software that is causing this.
What should happen is when the vault is driving the revision block the new revision row comes in and not only shows the newly created rev, but leaves previous revision lines as they were.
This condition also seems to exist for the description. In general it seems like there is a communication issue between this revision block and vault.
Similar to the find and replace functionality in MS Word and MS Excel this would be a good tool for finding files in not only the vault, but also in factory files as well.
This suggestions is to further the idea link posted below
http://208.74.205.69/t5/Autodesk-Vault-IdeaStation
and based on this thread.
Hi,
I've found on multiple ocasions that co-workers forgot to check in new files, causing them to be non-existant in the vault. It would therefor be useful if it would be possible to do a comparison between the current vault directory that is displayed and the corresponding local working directory.
another suggestion:
in a previous version it was still possible to chek out an entire folder. As file numbers can grow large, having to select each one by ticking the box now is extremely time consuming. (Or am i overlooking an option somewhere?)
It would be good to have this functionality once again. In relation to the previous idea, this check-out entire folder option can greatly facilitate local workspace maintenance as you can also perform an undo-chekcout on all files and remove all local working copies, leaving the non-checked in files on your system, which can then be sorted out easily.
Cheers,
Misha
Currently custom Tabs are displayed on all Preview Panes for Documents\Items.
Give the Admin the ability to control what Tabs are displayed on all Preview Pane based on Category on Folder\Doc\Item\Change Order\Custom Objects
The idea is to allow custom forms to be category specific and allow the user to input data into a concise clean form that mimics the manual paper forms instead of the not so intuitive Edit Properties Dialog.
Like this:
- Create change orders from Project tasks;
- Lifecycle management echoes with Project states;
- Tasks has assigned files;
- Project, general task, task creation in Project causes creating folder structure, and placing templates-based files in it - models, drawings, etc.;
- Properties synchronization.
The question is very deep, but we should go deeply into it to evolve Vault.
Enable ability to drag'n'drop properties in Vault Explorer from properties sidebar - that lists all properties of selected object - to add columns in main list instead using:
"Customize view" -> "Fields..." -> select object type -> select fields -> arrange fields -> "Ok" -> "Close".
It's faster and you always can see sample property value.
