I´ve just done a rigging study based on Jeff Brodsky's trunk rig Maya demo and I´d like to share with everyone here not only the video but also my files so anyone can dig into it:

(downloadable button is on the bottom of the page, the .zip includes scenes+wips+compounds)
This kind of setup can be usefull for trunks/tail/tentacles and stuff like that.
