Rotation in sketches

Hi,

i'm looking for a way to rotate single parts in sketches. Is there really no way? I can easily select, copy/paste and move parts around but no way to rotate them? I think i've just not seen this. Otherwise this would be a bit like driving a car but not able to steer to the left or right 🙂

Thanks for helping!

It sounds like you are trying to rotate a sketch entity or figure (e.g. line, spline, etc..)  located in a sketch (note the entire sketch). Currently this is not supported; however, you may want to add an IdeaStation request to add this functionality.

I may be able to make a suggestion how to get the sketch figures position correctly if you share a file or make a ScreenCast of the issue.

Let me know if I can be of any help.

Thanks,

As i wanted to rotate by 90 degrees i helped myself with mirroring over a 45 degree line but that of course is only half of a solution as for example with mirroring the dimensioning gets lost. This did the trick for now - maybe i'll add an idea post later.

There are about 300 other missing features/ideas i have in mind, i wish i'd had the time to post them all 🙂

Why do we need for such a basic tool even add an idea? I think sometimes user inputs are great - but on the other side the develop team should really know what a basic set of required tools should be either.

And move scale and rotate a sketch element is such. Imagine Adobe developing a new version of Illustrator and ignoring this tool.

I noticed in some other areas as well that really obvious tools were missing. I am just writing this because I as an enduser just ask myself how such thing could have been overlooked.

One workaround is to enter the Direct Modeling mode and rotate the sketch.

yeah but only if you want to rotate the whole sketch. In my case i'd like to rotate single elements. I'm in direct modelling nearly always.

I was surprised too to found out that rotation of sketches is not supported. There are several things you could achieve with using mirror or rotation pattern that can help you rotate.

However, as it is, if you have to draw intensive sketches you could use an external program and import from Fusion 360. Or if you've already invested your time, export from Fusion 360, edit in a different program then import back again.

I hope they implement those crucial and basic features to the sketch system as soon as they possibly can... if there is a feature request for it I'd like a link so I could upvote.

I am surprised that rotate is not there anyway. It is so basic! Here is a idea to vote on:
