inconsistent design insert

This is an image of a design I just put together that I am looking to insert into an assembly. In this image it looks consistant.

WS2812.PNG

But when I go to insert it in an assembly, I get a large number of warnings in a dialog, which pops up shortly in the bottom left, but too quick to capture, with no option to copy ( trust I have tried! ) and the design is evidently broken.

What next?

Note a cloud render, though very poor with the glass face, doesnt look corrupt in the same way.

Thanks for posting about this problem.

Unfortunately we were not able to reproduce the problem here, is it possible to attach your model to the forum? You can save the file as an f3d file using the Export Archive tool in the application menu.

If you would rather not post the model here, we can arrange another way to transfer the file.

You also can email me if you like.

Thanks for the quick response.

I can reproduce this issue. I will report the case into the internal issue tracking system and ask the development team to look into it.

Sorry for any inconvenience.

Good to know it is not just me!

Been wondering what work arounds I could try, I may try to import the design as a new one, rather than insert, and see if I can work with it there.

Note that...

In the original report, I was attempting to import the WS2812 into a PCB design and both had timeline enabled.

I tried disabling timeline in the PCB design, but fusion states that importing of a timeline design ( the WS2812 ) into a non timeline design ( the PCB ) is not presently supported.

So I made a version of the WS2812 that has timeline disabled.

Importing that into the base PCB design and no corruption occurs.

So it is likely the bug is related to importing in timeline enabled designs...

Thanks for your post the problem. I'm sorry I didn't reply sooner.

I have taken a look the model. There may be some issues on the Offset (PressPull) feature, I have reported it to DEV to try to fix it on a update.

About the model, we can try to recreate the feature on the model and insert it again.

This is the workflow about repair the model. Click here for the video.

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/73595450/Model_Repair_For_Insert.swf

  1. Open the model
  2. Drag End of Design Marker to the first OffsetFace1 on Timeline.
  3. Double click the feature OffsetFace1, we can see there is nothing on the Faces. The feature is not correct. Cancel it.
  4. On browser tree, check off the Bulb on ChipBody and Window to make the model is clear.
  5. Go to ribbon, Modify->Compute All to compute them.
  6. Then Double click the feature OffsetFace1 again,
  7. (Key step) Press Ctrl and select other faces to do Offset Face (PressPull). OK.
  8. Drag End of Design Marker to end of Timeline.
  9. Some other Offset Features are failed, too. Delete the 5 failed offset Features.
  10. Insert the model again, it can work well.

Hope it can help you. 🙂

Thanks

Thanks for the follow up.

I have moved off timeline designs right now. Not convinced it is fully baked. So working in non timeline, I am able to import and manipulate.

Good to know you have a workaround to continue your design.

We will try to fix the issues you posted soon on an update.

If you have any suggestions about Parametric Design Environment and Timeline, welcome to post them.

Thanks
