Coil Bug?

Hi

I've attached a quick screen recording of the problem...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=99v-7mY9YpE&feature=youtu.be

Running this on an iMac 27" 12Gb Lion 10.8.4 and the latest mac version of F360 - 1.8.568

The issue is this, I am placing a coil on the bottom plane of a 58mm diameter cylinder - the inspector indicates that it's definitely 58mm.

Choosing the plane then drawing a 58mm dia coil along with it's relevant properties, doesn't give the correct dimensions.

Middle and inside _seem_ to give the correct results, but outside doesn't, it's looks offset by about 1mm.

Any thoughts or solutions ?

TIA

Cheers

Neil

Hey Neil,

I took a look at this and I think I know what is happening. The square profile is inscribed within a circle which causes a slight offset.

You will need to increase the section size to overcome this issue.

Let me know if this helps.

Thanks for pointing this out, Neil.  The square profile should be circumscriebed rather than inscribed, leaving you with predictable values.  Please use Nathan's workaround for now, and we'll address this in a future update.

@Nathan, Charles

Thanks for the quick replies, it's not just me then 🙂

I did some more digging, it looks like there is more than one issue with this.

Reducing the diameter to 56.5 from 58mm will give you the correct result, but you must first click between centre to outside coil options to get the effect to work - changing the coil cross sectional dimension doesn't seem to have an effect.

There is another side issue to this - occasionally, I am unable to delete the coil, ends up as the coil from hell :-)) Normally, it then beachballs then fusion crashes.

Good to know it might be fixed in a newer release (hopefully get some hotkeys added too, I use my middle mouse button for an OS operation which is global).

Cheers

Neil

Neil, All,

FYI - the Coil dimension issue has been resolved in today's release.
