Close faces after mirroring

Good evening (well at least it's sunday evening here in germany now),

i just drawed an extrusion profile using mirroring on sketches which worked quite well (apart from some crashes - reports sent in).

After drawing one corner and flipping it over with the mirror function i have that:

Autodesk_Fusion_360.png

Basically everything looks fine but unfortunately this isn't a face and i'm not able to extruder it - well i could extrude the outlines only but that's not what i want. Is there any chance to connect the lines where the outline got mirrored so this turns into a solid face?

I didn't find a chance to do so.

(btw. inserting images from my harddisk works but when i load it from a foreign URL in the third tab within the image upload window it loads it in the preview but doesn't insert it into the post - maybe you can fix this?)

hmm found a "dirty" solution for myself - using extend i could extend the "broken" lines with a few clicks to have them close theirselfes. Doesn't look like the definitive solution so i would be glad if anyone could show me a better way or if not tell me there is not better way so i could write a post in the idea section for that 🙂

Hi Frank,

I wanted to mention a few helpful tips that I think may help with the creation of this design.

When a closed sketch is created,  a sketch profile will "fill" in and become shaded/highlighted, automatically. A sketch profile will allow you to extrude a body from a sketch. This is useful when you'd like to extrude more than the outline.

You'll note that you can turn on and off the display of sketch profiles by right clicking on the sketch in the browser and choosing Show Profile, or Hide Profile. You'll also note that sketch profiles can be disabled, enabled in the list of select > selection filters.

Another tip that may work is to use the "quarter slice" of the sketch a solid. Later, you can create a circular pattern the solid, instead of creating a more detailed sketch. Finally, you can use the combine feature to make many solids a single solid. See the below screenshots for details.

Let me know if this helps or if I can clarify anything.

Kind Regards,
