Cannot delete files

I have many files where Fusion crashed and after restarting it rendered the files impossible to delete because they are supposetly to be in use ?!

Our apologies for the inconvenience Claas.

This is actually an issue that we are aware of and are in the process of investigating / building out a fix. For the mean time as a workaround, are you able to promote one of the older versions and then delete as needed?

Oh no problem - good to know that it is not my side.

How can I actually go back a version?

It's pretty simple. To promote a previous version, open the design details (as opposed to editing it), click on versions, and then the promote icon PROMOTE.PNG.

Duh the versioning area sure - the term promote throw me off.

Also after doing this I still cannot delete the file(s).

Shucks!

Are you able to invite me (philip.schmelzer@autodesk.com) to your group so that I can take a look?

Hi Claas,

Following up on this one, we have identified the inability to delete a design as a defect and are investigating potential fixes. As a workaround, and in order to remove the "item is currently in use" message, can you please try opening and closing the design and then deleting?

Hi Philip, Thanks for the tips on promoting files. I did have the same problem and now I was able to promote one of the previous versions, opened it and selected "close all". My  "undeletable files" finally deleted. Your tips on promoting previous versions are also very useful when a previous design version is more favorable then the latest version. I was able to promote and select the previous version. It saved me the trouble of recreating it. Thanks!

What I found out was that opening the file adding geometry like a simple solid cube closing the file enabled me to delete it then. This way I removed 2 of my wheel files today. I leave one for you to test with.

Thanks for the input Claas.  This is not normal behavior and we are looking into it.

I will get the remaining wheel.f3d file from your group to use for our research.

Cheers,

Andy

I also encountered this problem. Opeing a sketch on the surface of the part. saving change and closing, then deleting allowed me to get rid of the problem file. Also not that trying to do CAM on the part that had become undeleteable chewed up massive amounts of RAM and there was noticeable slowdown, which eventually led to a crash of the program entirely.
