Problems running Revit with seemingly great PC specs

Hi,

When I run Revit on my computer it is very laggy and slow, and it freezes up when I try to do basic things like drawing gridlines. I am running it with Windows 7, an i7 processor, have 8 gigs of RAM, and an nVidia GEForce GT 555M 1 GB graphics card.

2 things: My hard drive runs at 5400 rpm (not sure if that matters) and I see that the GEForce is not tested for Revit.

I also see that my RAM use is at 86% when I run Revit.

Any suggestions? I don't know how to resolve this. Thanks.

*Also, I read in these forums a suggestion to go to Option->Graphics->Uncheck "Use Hardware Acceleration" box.

Anyone know anything about this advice?

Turning off hardware acceleration might be a good start since you do not have a QuadroFX card.  Additionally, I would recommend that you are at least running the latest WHQL certified driver.  You can download that here:

http://www.nvidia.com/object/win7-winvista-64bit-285.62-whql-driver.html

Another thing you can try when you're experiencing slow-down is yanking your ethernet network cable.  If your application runs normally while disconnected from the network, then you can look there for problems.
