HP DesignJet 800ps - Error 21:10

Any tips or direction on Error 21:10?

The entry on HP's website was less than helpful...

System Error 21:10
Explanation:
A problem has been detected with the Service Station assembly.

Recommended action:
Turn the printer off and allow a few minutes for printer to cool. Turn
the printer on and attempt to verify functionality.

Then a note to contact HP support if that doesn't fix it.

Okay, I found another error, I'll go look that up, too...

System Error

Severe Error: 0x3010002
task: tMech
file: sequence.c
line: 758

I'd appreciate any pointers.
Thanks,

Melanie Perry

Of course, why are the user forums the only place I can find any
information? 😜

Looks like it's necessary to clean or replace the Service Station
(although, I must admit I'm not entirely sure which part that's
referring, too... is that where the printer carriage returns to?)

Ive just had this on my DJ800 all it was is a bit of paper stuck under the carrage with the printheads on. open your front wondow & see if you can slide the carrage up & down. Move it all the way to the left & have a good look where it normaly sits (on the right) thats where i found a tiny bit of paper.

Bummer, I've taken a look, removed any dust or accumulated ink, looked
in every crack and crevice and it appears to be as it should be. I think
I'm outta luck.

Thanks for your help.

Wanderer,

Found this, has some decent pics as well.

We have the same printer but have not had that error, although we have had others.

Oh, that's a very nice link... the pictures do help as well. 🙂

The other link you posted was very good, too...
I had gone ahead and given that a try last week (the gunk *was* pretty
nasty, but, didn't actually seem to have been the source of the error,
even after unplugging/clearing, etc.).

so, I'm replacing the part right now. This link pointed me right to the
directions for replacing it page number and all SWEET, with good
illustrations (directions, I don't need to steenkin directions... ;-p).

I really think this information shouldn't be so darned hard to find,
though. 🙂

Thanks a lot!

Glad to be of help.

As for finding that info, just remember what one of the regulars here in the DG often say's; "Google is your friend" 😉

BTW I located a complete digital copy of the service manual (includes the scanner as well). Although I don't recall what website I found it at (might have been hp), with a bit of patience google should make finding it easier than going thru the hp website.

LOL. Yeah, I think of Dean every time I send someone to
http://lmgtfy.com I did a bit of a search to find the links I did
before. It does take some time to weed through the repeats of course.

Yes, I found the manual as well, it wasn't off the hp site though. Loads
of illustrations in that as well...

I know this discussion ended long ago, but I was curious if anyone might be able to help me with a similar situation. I too received this error on my Designjet 800 and followed the links described in the thread to try and rectify the problem. When I removed the right cover to take a look at the service station, I found that the service station flag was not at a 45, but was closer to 90. When I reposition it, there is nothing for it to clip into to keep it at a 45. Is this normal? In the picture  (http://www.computercarefiles.com/TWI_Docs/bpp90133/bpp90133-2.gif) on the forum, it appears that there is something at the top left for the clip to catch on, but that doesn't exist.

Any ideas or help that could be offered would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.
