Autodesk maya 2012 gtx 680

Hello, ive been searching throuuu allll the web, every single forum, nvidia, overclockers and more tryign to search for an official response from anyone, so far no one has replies and i find this offensive.

Id like to know if there are any plans of certifying the gtx 680? If not why are you not certifying it? If yes id like to know an aprox date?

Thanks a lot and i hope you can help me since ive always trusted nvidia and maya performance wise even tho ive neer used certified hadrware ive always got a solid performance. But now i get lots of errors with my gtx 680, lags in viewport, slutters when selecting and so on.

Someone please help me out, id appreciate a lot your help, thanks.

Hey, I am considering buying the 680 4Gb as part of a new system. Currently using gtx 285 1Gb. Old card but works well.

Its not likely to get certified being a games card and if it does get certified, I would think it would be for 2013, not 2012.

Anyway, have you tried the geforce optimization for maya?

ie past these into Maya.env

MAYA_NO_VERTEX_ARRAY_SELECT = 1
MAYA_SLOW_DRAWPIXELS = 1;
MAYA_NON_POWER_TWO_OFF = 1;
MAYA_GEFORCE_SKIP_OVERLAY=1
MAYA_HOTBOX_USE_SOFTWARE = 1

there are some other options in the nvidia panel as well.

Also I found smooth preview to be a cause of issues with my geforce. Crashes when trying to delete history on a object with smooth preivew on (no 3 key) and the same with assigning shaders. I created a custom del hist button that switches to base level cage, deleltes history and then switches back to smooth preview to use when modelling with smoothed meshes to avoid crashes. Works fine now.

Have you tried the trial of 2013 with latest drivers for the card? Would like to know if Maya 2012/2013 with 5**/6** gtx cards is viable anymore. If not stik with Maya 2008, that worked with anything...

Cheers

Maya 2013 runs smooth, no problems at all the problem is i use 2012 cause in college they use 2012 so i dont want compatibility issues : S.

Hoping to use 2013 soon 🙂

Ok well thats great news for me then at least 😉

Was contemtplating going quadro again but prices are prohibitive. Plus I switched to Quadro 2000 previously and still had teh same crashes. Much much much less often I admit but still it was happening and it was slower in Maya then the geforce so sold it and went back to gtx 285 with the added perk of being able to play games again 😉

Check out the Caustic visualizer for maya 2013 when you do. I'm curious as to how that performs with 680.

Caustic Visualizer provides real time raytracing in Maya.

Im one of the developers.

Some of the key features:
-works directly in a Maya viewport
-supports complex hypershade networks with the base Maya materials as well as MentalRay materials
-multi-bounce reflections and refractions
-area lights as well as ray traced soft shadows from point and spot lights
-image based lighting
-Maya color management settings are used directly in the viewport
