AutocAD 2008 installation on New Windows 7-64

I am having problems installing my AutoCAD 2008 on to my new laptop which has windows7-64 bit. Do you know why and is there a solution?

Try running it in xp compatibility mode. 2008 is not officially
compatible with Windows 7. Only "official" solution is to move up to
2010 or 2011 when it comes out.

What I've done to get it to work is to copy the AutoCAD 2008 installation
DVD onto the my laptop's hard drive which is also running Win7 64 bit.

Then I run the setup.exe now located in my laptop from under the x64 folder
which is the 64bit setup version.
The installation completed flawlessly.
