5400rpm VS 7200rpm

I am just wondering if anybody know what kind of performance boost I
will get going with a 7200rpm HD in a laptop vs the rather standard
5400rpm HD's?

OK but since I have never experienced a 5400rpm vs a 7200rpm I have no
idea if I will be sadly dissapointed with a 5400rpm?

I think it would be worth the upgrade...they are fairly commonplace now
and...I would assume...getting cheaper. Used to be that all you could get
was 60 gig...but I've seen a few 100's @ 7200 offered recently.

I've just recently bought my first laptop...so I really have no point of
reference.

7200's consume a little bit more power so the battery life will not be as
long. If you are doing any video editing, go with the 7200.

Ya there will be a fair bit of photo "stuff" done on this machine.

I've had laptops with all kinds of HD speeds, and I can honestly say I wouldn't
buy another one without a 7200RPM HD in it. It is noticably peppier than 5400.

probably not.

unless you encounter a 7200 in the future, but there are other factors that
can affect whether you notice a difference or not. It is very hard to
actually be comparing apples to apples in different laptops, unless they are
almost identical in specs except for the hard drive.

Yes, 7200 is obviously faster than 5400, but if something else is slower
than the other laptop, than maybe you wouldn't notice any difference at all.

Get the one you like, and can afford.
