Hello everyone,
in showcase when I cut a solid it appears hollow and transparent... I want section plane to be solid, is it possible?
Unfortunatly, this is the way it looks in Showcase. If you want a solid cut, you might want to consider cutting your model in Inventor and/or Revit first and import two models. One cut and one not cut. Then, you can use the visibility alternative lineup to display which one you want in your presentation.
Good luck

a possible work around could be to import the model in 3ds max and use the combined modifiers slice and cap holes

convert everything to edit poly, select the face created with the cap holes (should be a single one), and detach it from the original mesh.
export such face to fbx and import in showcase.
this will make you have less polygons in your scene compared to importing an entire cut model, and you don't have to apply materials twice.
if you are worried about 3ds max compatibility with your model, you can partially export your showcase scene in fbx forma and use the exported model into 3ds max.
the only disadvantage, is that you actually need 3ds max 😕
...actually we have found that video during our searches. We just didn't want to roll out Max on all our machines "just" for that simple necessity (we have anyway 3dsMax in all our licenses).
We have just begun our activities with ShowCase and since our typical product is merely mechanic, we will need those cross sections almost in each of our presentations. Probably in the future there will be some room also for 3dsMax (we need to show some particles effects, like the "sand-man" from Spiderman) but won't be tomorrow for sure.
Right now we'll try to get the best possible result from ShowCase, investing those 20 minutes making the cut model in Inventor (for us it's faster than installing + maintaining + training on Max), while hoping that Autodesk will fix the behavior with the 2015.... I should write it in the "idea"... I'm just too lazy...
...thanks for the tip, anyway 😉
