Showcase: material rotated slightly in error

Hi there.

I'm very new to Showcase, and I love it so far!  But my roof material is slightly rotated and I can't figure out why.

Material rotation is 135 (which is what I want) and the perfectly square house is exactly oriented to North.  What gives?

See how the tile edge is different at the edge of my roof?

How come?

Rendered in AutoCAD before:

Anthony's House SW.jpg

See?  Roof pattern matches roof edge.

Thanks.  🙂

I could attach the DWG file, but not the Showcase a3s file even after changing the file extension to something else.  Sorry.

Actually, those documents DID get attached.  Change the .doc to a .a3s for a Showcase 3D scene file, and change the .txt to a .apf for an Autodesk Packet File.

No matter what I try, I can't post the AutoCAD 2014 dwg file!  The other way around.  Weird.  Sorry.

Zip it. Many file types will not attach directly - they must be Zipped before attaching them. Renaming files to have a different extension is not recommended.
Note - Must be .zip, not .7z, .rar or any other type of compressd file.

HI,

I tried to unzip the file you sent but I can't open it in Showcase.. The companion file is empty.. therefore the Showcase project is empty.. That is very commun mistake when new to Showcase. To share your project with co-workers here is the process.

Open your Showcase project

Go to File> Save scene and texture as

This will open the save window. In this window, choose .zip as the output file format.

Then.. send the project to your co-worker.

If you do to and re-attach the .zip file to a reply post, I will be able to look at it and see if I can help you out.

Thanks

Marion

Thanks for the help on properly zipping & saving.  I did what you asked, but the file is over 133+ megs and won't upload.  I'm an avid purger, so I'm not sure what I can do in Showcase to reduce the file size.  Is there any "purge-like" function in Showcase?

You could use http://free.mailbigfile.com/ or a similar service. Contact Marion via a Private Message before you do - it needs a destination email address which you will need to obtain (and probably shouldn't be posted on the public forum).

No you can't purged anything. You need to send the file as his.

You can zip the AutoCAD file maybe? I can do the import on my side.

HI,

I have loaded the house in Showcase and did not experience the rotation you had.

Two things are possible.

1- You did not import the house within the correct scalling (mine was imported in Inches) You can review and change the unit in the Import Status window- Refer to the first image

2-Without noticing, under the material properties you might have slighly rotated the image? Refer to image 2

I suggest you re-import the house and see if you encounter the same problems. Or, adjust the rotation of the texture image under the material properties.

Let me know if that helps

Marion

Thanks for your help.  Turns out I just re-imported it and it looks fine now.  Maybe something was wrong on my first try.  It's all good! 🙂
