shadow quality

once again i'm having issues with shadows.. meh..

in particular shadow borders look "serrate" even with high quality 4096x4096, and in particular the higher the softness the higher and most spread the serrate effect is..

it depends mainly on the object position, for example on the floor i get acceptable shadow effects, but in other points of the models, the issue is almost impossible to resolve..

another strange thing happening, when switch off the softness, also the light elevation seems to change 😐 with softness on, the light looks much more grazing..

ok, found where the problem is..
objects far away from the original scene...

i've used this trick to hide/show elements being part of other alternatives, but at this point is not that feasible in the end..
so, basically the bigger the scene, the worst the shadow quality 😐

Yes. To me the same thing happened to me.
In models some great architecture, the problem is serious.
Hopefully in 2016 sowcase measures to correct this.
Greetings.

the problem is more likely with non proportioned scene..
for example a scene being very long or very tall, but not very large will get the shadows wrong, because the basic picture uised to calculate the shadow booleans is stretched..

the only way to fix this imho should be a more dynamic control of the base image, but i think it's not something autodesk is going to fix.. like more serious bugs the software has and feature missing unfortunately 😞
