Rotate camera position from a browser interface

Hello,
I'm trying to rotate through the Message Reference one image in showcase 2014.
I am using the function: NAVIGATION_SET_CAMERA_POSITION but I do not understand how to assign coordinates to the position and look at position.
Do you know a better way to allow the rotation of the image?

never made it work in my experience..

you need to freely rotate the camera or could iut be a good idea to set 4-8 premade camera positions (shots) and make them change using the SHOT_PLAY_SINGLE?

I see;

I need to freely rotate the camera, I have to control it from the browser

I have to admit I've just come here to see if there's a way to export from Showcase to html/swf so that the model is user-rotatable.

I can get it to create the scenes as rendered vids, which is ok, but not really as "flash" as a full 3d experience.  I can understand that the fancy textures and lighting aren't likely to be possible, but I am hoping something is???

Hi,

There is not ways in Showcase to enter a numeric value or position for the camera. The camera is move freely by the viewer. When I need to position and create cameras that are more specific, I rely on 3ds Max Design.

It's easy to position the camera with numeric value, rotate them by specific angles and animate them precisely.

The cameras and animation can then be exported to Showcase

You can watch this video as a guideline.

Good luck

Let me know if I can be more helpful.

then there's a possible workaround, but it is quite difficult to make it work:

before starting, are you using showcase in console mode with the echo message plugin running?

if not:
c:/program files/ autodesk/showcase/(bin and look for the showcaseconsole.exe file (you better pin this one to the task bar or create a desktop shortcut).
this will start showcase with a small console on its side..
then go to the add in manager
go to file-> addin manager

press add

and choose echomessagecustom.py
also add buttonsimulatecustom.py.
exit and reopen showcase.

echomessages will display all the events happening in showcase, included th streamed commands from the browser and the streamable commands you actually use in showcase while working.
quite usefull for UI developing.

button simulate will add streamable commands that simmulate a keyboard pressure:

if it's working you will see these commands under the view menu.

this way you can stream the command BUTTON_SIMULATE::a::b

a is the button variable, you have to write a number corresponding to a key:
1 - left, 2 - right, 3 - down, 4 - up, 5 - page down, 6 - page up

b is the event variable, you have to write a number corresponding to a press or release event.
1 - press, 0 - release, < 0 - press for that many seconds, then release

you have to use the "onpress" and "onrelease" java tags instead of the simple hrefe on the streaming link..

this will simulate rotation around pivot, it means it will not look around as an fps game, but just turn the camera around a set COI.

please note that if the connection between browser and showcase is not fluent (eg having the UI on another PC) it may cause missing commands and, for example, keep a key pressed without control.
