Perforated sheet on cylindrical surface

Hi folks!

Right now we would like to publish our 3D-files (Inventor 2014) by using Showcase (2014). Since our products include a lot of perforated pipes, we’re running into problems to get a proper appearance in Showcase. Due to performance optimization we didn’t create the holes as “real” extruded cut-out, we only use textures/colors for it (see fig.)

We created and tried a couple of customized materials in Showcase, but all results are insufficient. We’re looking for a solution with more depth.

Is there any easy way to get a nice shoot without create each and every hole as patterned extrusion?

Thanks in advance for any useful help.

Hi Seebach,

something like this would work for your purpose?

Hi Admaiora,

That looks great! How do you create such mapping?

Could you please describe a short how-to?

Thanks.
