Hiding environment image but keep reflections on the object

Hello,

I'm new to Showcase. I was just wondering if you could add an environment image or HDRI image as something for your object to reflect from but not showing the environment image on the background. I want to show the product with a clean white background, but I also want the product to have real reflection from an environment so it looks more realistic. Is this possible?

Thank you!

Hello
Yes there is a way to do that.
Here are two ways

Method 1
1) You can change the environment settings and here is how:

a) Apply an editable environment to your scene(ID Bloom or Generic)
b) Right click on the environment in the overlay UI and go to properties
c) Click Show more controls
d) Assign a new panorama image (You can use any of the ones that are located in the following folder)
C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Showcase 2012\support\Environments
e)After you have done that in this properties window you can also swap the reflection map and here is how to do that.
Scroll down to Light Map Adjust (IBL) section and click the "Show more controls for light maps"
f) Than select adjust Individual IBL maps
e) All you have to do is select a different Reflection light map.

Method 2
2) You can assign a reflection texture map to a Showcase material

a)You can assign custom reflections per material by specifying a unique image. However this only works for Showcase materials and does not apply to the Autodesk materials

I have attached a few sample files for you and screen shots of the UI.
The secret with these image files is that they have to be created and saved in certain file format in order for them to work properly.
You can see this for yourself by looking through the Showcase environment folders.
Good Luck
