Can't import 2014 Inventor files into Showcase-2014

I get import failure with error message : "One or more files could not be imported..." every time I try to import an inventor file into Showcase.

It says to look at Import Status Window. That just says there is a failure...duh!

I saw a post with similar subject & info about using an Autocad Win 8.1 hotfix & copying a a DLL file to the Solidworks folder. The only relavent hotfix I found a Block _Property_Hotfix with an "acadb.dll" file.

That did not help.

Anyone?

i think we need some "sticky" discussion in this forum..

question to Marion, if she sees this, do we have a moderator for this section?

I do have Windows 8.1 on my laptop & had already tried the Acad Hotfix (add DLL file to specific Showcase folder) & I still get the error. SO probelm is not fixed.

As a workaround I was able to save the iam file to STEP & it imported fine into Showcase.

Cikho,

If you read my post I do confirm having found the previous applicable post on this topic.

The problem is that I did add the Hotfox DLL file into the specified Showcase folder as instructed by the post. But I still get the error.

As a woraround I used a neutral file format (STEP) to import & worked around the bug.

I have w8.1 with Showcase 2014 and it works (after the hotfix). 2015 works without the hotfix.

Have you done also the showcase 2014 hotfix 1?

In w8.1 how is the UAC setting (user access control)?

For professional purpose is better to set it to 0.

in w8.1 is your user account set as administrator os standard user?

Have you checked the windows %temp% folder, to se if in the showcase log file there is something that can help the solution?

Try to empty your local temp folder (write %temp% in file explorer), better if you do it just after a reboot.

Start Showcase 2014 and test an import.

In the temp folder there are some file named Showcase 201x Log.xxx.log

Try to open these files (with windows notepad) and watch if there are errors listed or just upload the files so i can watch it.

Let us know your tests.

Bye
