Hi,
i am working on a project in which component need to travel in overhead conveyor in differernt path,
but i am not finding any result related to this in showcase, can any one give me the result.
if its possible i need to know how?
if its not on which software we can do the same?
i have factory design suit 2014
inventor
navisworks
showcase
3ds max
autocad mech
i required this on urgent basis............

Animations in showcase are only straigh movementrs and rotations. So i Think is very difficult to make move a can on a conveyior...
The best option is to do it in 3ds max.
You have to do:
1. create an inventor file (ipt) (i think your project start is an inventor assembly) with only the 3d schetch with the path the can should follow.
2. export the ipt file in dwg format (so, if later you modify the path in inventor you can update the path in 3ds max)
3. import the path and the can in 3ds max
4. with the path constraint in 3ds max do the animation of the can (searc on the web, there are several tutorials)
5. with the movement done, export an fbx (2013!!!! version) (here you have the can "flying..." without the conveyors)
6. in showcase import the conveyiors, then the fbx. you'll have the behavior with the can movement.
It is very important thet the fbx file, once imported, remains in his position. don't move the fbx file in showcase.
if you have to mach the position between can movement and conveyors, move the conveyors.
It is not simple.... but should works.

You can animate in showcase through a irregular path , even if not linear or circular. (a chain... a conveyor..a rail..etc)
That could be a little tricky and the biggest part of the work will be in Inventor.
Currently i can't post videos, but at the end of the weeks will post some examples.

Hi admaiora
This is a really cool tips. I hope you don't mind me sharing with the Showcase communtiy via the FB page.
This is the only possible option as the path constraint animation will not be supported from 3ds Max Design to Showcase as suggested by c.garimberti. Only move, scale and rotate animation done via direct keyframes are supported in Showcase coming from 3ds Max Design. All path constrain, either on object or camera would not come accross to Showcase.. so please follow Admaiora's advice and do it in Inventor.
Thanks for creating this video!

Hi Yves,
that was not a sweep, but a pattern of disks.
I used that way to simulate fluid flow in pipes in a Showcase project.

Hi,
the Drive Me constraint is beetween the assembly origin plane and the part adaptive plane.

I added the constraint but it doesn't do anything after importing into showcase. Behavior controls are not active.
any help?
It just a simple setup and even then i'm not able to do it .
Do you have a tutorial or some extra tips?
Did you renamed in Showcase the constraint?

Hi admaiora,
I followed the steps of the movies you posted, but it doesn't give me a good result.
I think that your problem is in the patterns setting.
I have no model here, but here, steps after steps, there is all

Hi admaiora,
I used the same constraints, dimensions, ... and still it doesn't work properly (tried several times).
The only difference is that the chain link is replaced by a more simple part.
I added the animation result and the files I used, hope you have a little bit of time to take a look at it, and maybe solve the issue i'm struggling with.
Hi Yves,
attached the assembly corrected.
Your error, quick, little distraction for you (see video at 1:17), but quite a time for me to analyze the issue,to isolate and find it.
You did this:
Instead you have to do this, otherwise the point and so the pattern will no be associative to the path:
