Hi,
Recently I tried exporting some drawings drawn in Fusion 360 into SolidEdge, I'm not sure why but it just fails to import the file, this is the first time I'm having difficulties reading STEP, IGES. The only one that worked is ACIS (sat) but STEP is always the preferred format.
Any idea if its only SolidEdge having trouble or other non-Autodesk 3D mCAD softwares is having the same problem as well?
When you say you're having problems, can you clarify what they are? For example, do you receive error messages? Is the geometry wrong, missing, etc?
Also, which version of SolidEdge is it? I could see there being an issue if the version of Solid Edge you are using is older. I move things in-between Inventor 2014/2015 and Fusion 360 in nuetral formats (STEP, IGES, SAT) pretty regularly. With that said, it may be helpful to explorer the STEP import options in Solid Edge. Perhaps there is a setting that needs to be changed.
I hope that helps.
Thanks,
It has a very high chance of freezing as in the software (SolidEdge) will just freeze.
I've tried again drawing a simple box + round (bodies/part) and box + round (components/assembly), this time it manages to work, then I also tried importing a STEP file into Fusion and then export it to STEP and SolidEdge manages to read it properly. But I have this assembly that I made with fusion, around 20 parts or so? That one I can never get it to open unless I export it as .SAT.
I wonder how should I debug this further.
I'm not sure how you are exporting, but there may be some additional formats to try based upon how you export (from Fusion 360 vs. your dashboard). Have you seen the below tip?
It may help with this issue. Let me know if you have any other questions.
Thanks,
