Significant bugs in Mac version

I'm runnging the current version of Fusion and Mac 10.9.4.

The software is almost unuablely unstable. The navigation cube disappears randomly and requires a restart.

There is often garbage on the screen that needs to be refreshed to get my content back but then a restart is necessary.

And perhaps more seriously of all, a recent save of a project deleted all the content on the one side of a construction plane. So I've had to repeat that. Steping back ground history showed no action to cause this.

Considering I'm trying to support my Son's use of this software, he is getting more and more frustrated by the day.

There are dashboard items that can't be removed or selected. All of Fusion, including Library contents have been removed to no luck. (why the uninstaller doesn't do that is beyond me).

This all seemed to start with the last update. If I had the option I'd roll back to 10.9.3 and the previous Fusion, but that isn't possible (all machines in the house must run the latest OS, a side effect of being an Apple software engineering employee)

I'm unsure what do do at this point.

I tried to file a bug as the twitter precense said. But there is no Fusion 360 option to choose.

Another issue that I had forgotten

Randomly, if you select a sketch, you get all sorts of other sketch components (which I've never drawn) appearing. App freezes.

Picture enclosed, as it is hte only way to explain it.

I seem to be having so many issues with Fusion 360 on my Mac.  It hangs, its slow, it randomly crashes.  In fact it's almost (actually 'is') un-userable.

I am running a 30 day trial and had the view of subscribing on a monthly package.  Until such point that the product is stable, I wont be splitting with any money!

I expected better from the industry leader. Poor show Autodesk.

Ill keep an eye on this page for hopefully some good news that the problems are resolved.

I dint expect overnight fixes. I'd be apply with the option to roll back.

Fusion gives far more power than any cad program I've ever used, and while it is undergoing crowing pains, that is to be expected.

That it it is annoying is heck

I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble running Fusion 360 on your Mac. Below are a collection of articles that should improve the operation of Fusion 360 on a Mac.

Are you running a MacBook? Pro? Air?  I am really curious to know if the Energy Saver or Gesture Based Navigation preferences may be impacting your experience. Please review the articles in the above link and let me know if they help.

Thanks,

I'm not running on an Air.. although when I was on the weekend it performed flawlessly.

None of the solutions in that tech note helped. 😞

Ive had my issues on a late 2009 iMac, but with a reasonable spec (SSD, 16GB Ram etc)

I have an Air too, and will give that a trial run and see how it goes!

Thanks

These pictures look very similar to some of the issues I have had on my 2009 27” iMac.  These came up only with the recent version of Fusion. Posted here:  http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/Help-and-Support/Odd-failure-mode-lost-all-manipulators-components-dis...

I had actually experienced Fusion as being quite stable before. In my case problems seem to be graphics card/ graphics memory related. I’ve followed the suggestion in the above thread to decrease the window size, and that seems to have made it stable again. I had previously turned off all effects without any improvement. Fusion seems to be having trouble with a high resolution display and the iMac’s graphics card. This had not been a problem earlier, and hopefully it will be addressed in the next update. This last update also created the situation where Fusion was unusable on my (and many other) Mac systems unless anti-aliasing was turned off- again, this was new. Mac graphics seem to be very much an issue with this release.

When I started Fusion this morning I got note of an update. Not the usual install, but an update none the less.

I've not put it thorugh its paces, but it seems much more stable.

Was there a roll back?

Hi Sanguish,

Actually we fixed a couple issues that we determined required a more prompt response than our normal release cycle.  As Ron mentions above there are some workarounds we have that help users get their work done, but they are not our desired experience.  We should have a number of graphic fixes coming in the next update that should hopefully resolve a few of these issues.

Cheers,

Im still having real issues.

This morning on my iMac, started a simple project of a shelf.  Added a material to the bodies and it fell over..then on reopening my model the screen starts to do its own thing! And my model is not working! See image.

Thanks your info, Mark.

Could you please share us the graphic card info and screen resolution? I will transfer the issue to the developer to take a look it.

Thanks

I'm experencing a lot of these same problems, and am curious if it's a graphics card issue. I was planning on getting more more RAM since I'm running with 2gig, but if it's graphics related, I can't really do anything about that with a mac mini.

The update that is discussed that recently came out made a huge difference on the Mini. I get far less crashes.

I still get some lockups, usually trying to switch back to edit mode. But it is much more stable.

Video card would have been my first guess as well.

Since my change of machine (now MacBook Pro) mine is far more stable.  I had a full day of CAD yesterday and I had two or three minor crashes, but luckly I didnt lose masses of work.  I would absolutly put the majority of problems down to machine spec, and yesterday down to bugs.

So it cost me £1300 for a new MacBook to get it stable.  One thing I think AD should do, is tighten the spec of machine required on thier website.

Thanks

So making the window smaller seems to have solved all my freezing and navigation problems on my mini. I guess my graphics card isn't up to it. Too bad.
