The more media you have in your Libraries the more system resources Smoke will take up. So a lot of clips eventually will slow you down, especialy when it auto-saves.
For your episodic shows I would create a new project for each episode. If there was something from a previous ep or Proejct you can easly get access to that material via the media Hub Projects Tab.
If you have a lot of material per episode., I would organize it by Librairies and have multiple Libraires. You acan furthur ogranize by sub folders within each library. This way, you can CLOSE libraires that you don't need immediate acces to and SMoke will use less resources.
For your promos, you should have no issues with all of the promos in 1 project. Again, I would use a new library system for each one. However, the final sequences could all live in 1 library as well.
There are many ways to orgainize things.... but being able to get shots from other proejcts and closeing libraries will help you as a workflow.
