no 2012 user-guide as pdf anymore?

Is there really no PDF for the user-guide and the release notes and the known bugs anymore?

The wiki looks like crap and gives me many error codes - I guess Firefox 4 has some display problems or the database doesn't work...

What is so bad to hand out a well structured pdf?
Where you can easily find some reference information?

Please!

Good luck on that. Autodesk is being bizarrely tone-deaf to overwhelming rejection of the wiki as it is & demands for a PDF version (the Flame-news email list has been lit up for weeks about this). It's pretty stunning. We will have to find a different point of contact at Autodesk to get through, because so far we've been ignored or offered very lame and contradictory excuses for not helping. I don't think they understand what effect having a poor manual has on our work and our livelihoods.

WHAT ARE OUR OPTIONS WHEN WE DON'T HAVE INTERNET ACCESS?

I've been using the PDFs for years so I am not dependent on Internet access...

What options are you providing when internet access is not convenient or available?

Thanks

On these pages you'll find help installers and zip files of the help:

www.autodesk.com/smoke-helpdownload
www.autodesk.com/flame-helpdownload
www.autodesk.com/lustre-helpdownload

Use the help installers to install the help on your Flame, Smoke or Lustre.

Use the zip file to install it on another computer.

For instructions loading the help on an iPad, see:

I was disappointed about the lack of PDF documentation in Maya 2012. I use to read the pdf's on the bus etc. The web based help is ok, but I really prefer paper books, and second to that comes PDF. Web based help is better when searching for answers to a specific problem at hand, but I like the ability to scroll around in the pdf file, stopping by the interesting sections.

Would have been nice too have some pdf's for Maya 2012 as well!?

yes - under current circumstances its great to have this - at least -
still its a major step backwards compared to the "old" pdf-manuals, which have been really outstanding!
i have given this comment often on different pages -
loks like i have to get used to the "new" way ...
