NEW Flame Premium 2015 Ext 3 Vid - Perspective Planar Tracking - Axis Location

Hi All,

I hope you had a great weekend!

I have just published a new video to the Flame Premium Learning Channel that discusses how the axis location can make a big difference to lining up textures when using Perspective Planar Tracking.

For example, you need to clean a shot or composite something using one still frame of the clip. You work on the reference frame and than use perspective planar tracking with Gmasks in Action to match the camera move.

The point of discussion in this video is how the technique of adding gmasks determines whether the axis is in the centre of the frame or the centre of the Gmask.

You can check this all out on the Flame Premium Learning Channel.

Or you can download the videos via iTunes.

Hey Grant,

thanks for the demo.

Is there a way to control the center axis using a perspective grid.

Im finding when I use a perspective grid sometimes when I invert the grid to clean it up in one positon, it reduces and repos the size of the image, rather than leaving it at 100% size in position.

If it reduces the size Im worried it will soften the image when I invert it back.

Am I doing something wrong here?

Hi David,

The inverted perspective grid, stretches out the image in order to remove the perspective. Naturally the undistorted image will actually scale larger in order to compensate for the perspective removal. When reapplying the perspective to the image it returns to its original size.

In both methods I used for the inverted perspective grid, I did not notice any softening or filtering. You can can do a difference key between the original and the result.

If you think that using multiple actions will "soften" the image than use the second method of doing it all in one action.

But as I said, either way looked to be fine.

Hope this helps.

Regards
Grant

Its definately softening. Image is getting about 50-75% of original size.

The way Im fixing my plate is source noding on top of source noding in order to get rid of the noticable cloning.

The only way I can think of the multiple source noding is to use multiple action nodes.

Unfortunately when I reverse the perspective grid it softens the image.
