Matchbox shader server

We have 3 flames and a smoke, is it possible to run an external server for the matchbox shaders so we are all using the latest ones, and don't have continuously update all the machines individually.

You could create a link to a directory on a central network location if you have them all talking via NFS or something.

ln -s /usr/discreet/flame_xxxx/matchbox/YourShaderDirectory /mnt/some/network/location/ShaderDirectory

Otherwise you can simply navigate to the centralized location manually when you load shaders.

In either case, keep in mind if the NFS link goes down Flame might get angry.  Having not tried I'm not really sure what behavior it might exhibit if you loaded a sequence with missing Matchbox shaders, save the project, and then later fix the problem such that the shaders are found again.. does it remember all the original effect parameters?  Not sure (but hopefully yes)

Hi PSJ,

you can find a script for that in the facebook logik group from Ton Habraken. It updates the shaders via a cron job.
