Inconsistent behaviour across different macs running same os and smoke!

Until now I have been learning smoke on my Mac Pro. This weeken i needed to carry on working on a shot at home,so loaded Smoke 2015 Ext1onto the Macbook Pro.

Im running the same version of Smoke on the same mac OS, but the timeline is behaving quite differently. I have been through the preferences to check for any obvious differences but cannot find any.

Also rebooted and repaired permissions .

The main problem i am having is to do with how the Focus Point is linked to the Primary track selector. On the 'big mac' i can grab the focus point with the cursor and drag to a different track and the Primary track selector will automatically select that track,

whereas on the laptop, doing the same move (grab focus point and dragging) does move the focus point BUT DOES NOT move the Primary track selector.  The only way i can do that is to select the box with the red P to the left of the video tracks.

Anyone know if theres a setting i can pick that will cure this?

thanks

Adam
