Creating a flickering jack-o-lantern

Hello All,

I need to make the candle inside a jack-o-lantern flicker for a Hallowe'en supermarket ad.

I would normally do this with Colour Correction and various garbage mattes to create a flickering glow, but I thought I'd ask on here to see if there is a better way to get the effect?

I'm always looking for new ways to do stuff.

Al.

I tend to use a bit of flickering lensflare attached to a light. It's a nice trick that works a treat... sorry.

Yup… I agree and you can completely customise the lens flare so that you can use with with just a glow etc.

Use a noise expression to generate the flickering.

Grant

And for those interested here is the expression I used...

noise(frame/2) * 85

At the moment it's on transparency of the matted layer, and I'm screen blending it over the top.

I'm going to have a go at attaching lens flare to a light if I get the chance this afternoon. Lens flare is not something I use very often.... here goes.
