I know you have said that you have watched some tutorials but have you looked at the following?

It is hard to know what issues you are encountering without more information. It could be that the XML is not accurate, or the search criteria you are setting in Flame are wrong (e.g. you might only need name & timecode selected), or you are not setting the correct path to the media, or that there could be permissions issues on the location of the media.

Just too many possibilitites to explore without more information. Sorry I can't be of more help at this stage 😞

Hi,

In the latest version, you go to the media hub and navigate to the EDLS.

Switch to the EDL import tab and enable Multi-Assemble.

Select the EDLs in the order from top to bottom for V1 and upwards.

Drag the EDLs onto a reel or in a folder to build the conform.

Once the clip is built, switch to the Conform area and open the clip as a sequence.

You can now go through the process of searching and linking to the media and the sequence should nbe fully assembled.

I'll add this to my list of videos to produce.

Hope this helps.

Hi,

I havent not run Flame or Smoke 2012 in quite a long time.

However I did make a video on conforming FCP 7 XMLs into Smoke 2012 that used QT media.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FbaEDJ7ng6g&t=408

The first half of the video is FCP but the second half is Smoke 2012 and when you come to conform bit, it was exactly the same in Flame 2012.

A few things to bare in mind is that the resolution of the media must match the resolution of the time perfectly in order to do a conform (an issue in 2012 but not in 2015).   Secondly, the match criteria defaults to filename so if the filenames are in the XML, Flame should find the media in the near location.

The only thing I am sure of is that the XML from Hiero does not use the matching standards from FCP7.  So there might be a black layer of data which we do not support.  This also might be causing an issue in the conform.

You could try the EDL route which means you would first import all the media into a reel into Flame Clip Library.   You would than go to the EDL manager, import the EDL and point the EDL to the REEL with the footage to match via tapename and timecode.

Hope this helps!

Grant
