CFX suddenly ceased functioning!

this is a new one on me...

my Connect FX have just stopped working - i can create a cfx but when i go into it, i cannot do anything - select, move, delete, connect or add new nodes...nothing works!

If i try add a node i get the message  "ConnectFX: no connectfx schematic view is available"

tried restarting, tried opening other projects -same result!

just what you need on friday afternoon when you're due to leave in an hour!

anyone else ever see this behaviour?

Hello Adam,

Try this:

1. Go in CFX

2. Go in the View menu (middle bar on the right)

3. Look for the Layout section at the bottom left

4. Click and hold the Reset Layout button and select Reset All

5. Close the View menu

6. Try to display the Connect FX Schematic view.

Has this fixed the issue?

You could also try this:

1. Exit Smoke

2. Open a Terminal

3. In the terminal type: cd /usr/discreet/user/<name of your user>/batch/pref

4. Remove a file by typing: rm MV.pref

5. Restart Smoke

you need to remove the file named MV.pref located in /usr/discreet/user/<user name/batch/pref

It is possible you may have corrupted that file and this is why you are no longer able to properly display the Schematic in CFX. The file is automatically re-generated when you start the software.

As a quick alternative (and to validate that this is really the isssue) you might want to create a new user to see if it will fix your problem.

thanks Fred - i did create a new user after reading your suggestion and it seems to have resolved the problem.
